Since it got discussed in the Reputation thread.. thought I'd bring it up here.
Possible GTM Cover Song, performed by GTM members?
Madman could possibly produce, I could possibly play guitar (depending on the song, my hands don't do bar chords :3)... would need singer(s), bassist, guitarist(s) and a drummer.
Song ideas? Thoughts? (':

I could do guitar or singing. I can play reasonably well, but I can't write for crap. And the quality probably won't be that good. I could upload something to give you an idea of the quality I'll be able to offer if you like.
-
I could do some form of electronic addition, along with fotep, if he wants.
-
I actually have a fairly nice output on my amp, never tested it until just now. Actually makes me sound quite alright :L

I might have too much gain on my amp. Perhaps that's why the quality is so bad. I just put Gain, Bass and Treble up to max, everything else except volum to zero. Evidently that's not the way to go about it.
This might actually be a good opportunity to check out my FX Pedal my dad got me for Christmas. =D

My amp has a hefty load of amp model presets (which are fairly good) so I generally don't know much about settings :3
-
Sounds like a good idea. Can't do an instrument but could do hand drums and maybe vocals.
-
How about a Metallica cover? Shouldn't be too hard for you guys to play something like Fight Fire With Fire or Orion (which could get rid of the need for a vocalist in the case of the latter).
-
I dunno, that's asking a lot of me and my altrock skillz :P
Anyway, here's a little quality tester, recorded straight from my amp to audacity. 256kbps. 2 different amp models. Pretty damn shoddy playing, but it's only an example of the quality I can get outta my amp, righ'?

Here's my poorly mic'd Bugera 6260 being demo'd in Drop B while I play terribly :D
For those wondering, I also have a better tool on my iPod (Ampkit).
-
DP:
Here's some recordings I made on my iPod, with a Peavey 6505 preset, a Bogner Uberschall preset, and a Peavey Valveking preset. Extra points if you guess the song I'm partially covering.

i could do drums, maybe we could do a cover of metallica-one ?

Wait, are you going to do electronic drums or real life physical drums (if you're doing electronic drums you NEED EZdrummer or Superior Drummer)?
But I think One is a good choice in most respects. I'll have to bump up the bass guitar compared to the original though :P
-
I could probably do One. It's probably the only Metallica song I can play right through, solos and all.
-
One would be pretty easy for me to Re-amp too, if you send the plain guitar signal rather than it through an amp. That way I'd be able to use the Marshall and Dual Rectifier amp models so I'd have a realistic Metallica amp sound.

Do you mean through a clean setting, or a recording device plugged straight into the jack? Because I don't have one of those, unfortunately.

Dang. Well, they're pretty cheap to buy, but I can live with your clean sound.
-
I can play a lead straight into my laptop from my guitar and do that, righ'?
Never actually tried playing One (Shame on me). I very doubt I could play the solos in it, but that's cool 'cos NFX got that :P
If need be I'll just do backing bits when there's clearly 2 guitars needed.
-
I've got the solos, more or less. I've got tabs for them, I can't play them perfectly, but I can do alright.
-
Pah, I'm really not used to this fiddly stuff *hides back in the corner with my disgustingly simple power chords*

i could do either one, for the real physical drums i will have to wait until i get back to school and use the school ones though

I have to play Technical Death Metal by default, imagine how my left hand feels sometimes when having to deal with sweep picking and all that jazz :P
Craaig can be our Hetfield/Table while NFX can be our Kirk. Now we just need either a great electronic drum guy or Sage to provide the natural drum sounds, and a Jason Newstead.

Great, just make sure to learn the song and get some decent recording equipment in the case of the latter option.

I am the table?

You are the James Hetfield, it's mutually inclusive.

Sounds cool, maybe a music video for GTM...?
