As much as I loved Fx, I think it's over between us. Chrome is smaller, lighter and faster. Now it also supports extensions, which was the only reason I stuck to Fx that long. I advise you give it a shot.
Get the browser from here:

Get the extensions from here:

:o

Does it have Speed Dial? What about mouse gestures?
-
I have all three!
-
What about mouse gestures?
I can no longer navigate the internet without those lol
-
I've been using Chrome since Goose first announced its release and, now that it includes more functional addons, I'm one step closer to removing Firefox from my computer. Chrome has a cleaner look and runs faster overall.
Chrome has many addons that perform similar to Mouse Gestures but I liked this one (https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/aeaoofnhgocdbnbeljkmbjdmhbcokfdb) the most.
-
Chrome looks pretty slick! I just might jump on this bandwagon at some point. I've been using Firefox for 6 years now... before that I really like iCab as a browser (it was simple) :P
-
for me its been firefox for only a year now, I tried the very first chrome when it came out (perhaps even beta version) and didnt like it
-
I've been using it for more than a year and I still love it. And I'm gonna love it more when I finish downloading all the extensions I need. XD
-
Firefox, in my opinion, is still better. There's a lot of more things that it supports (such as streaming movies on netflix, which I LOVE to do.) And I already have everything set up very nice on my firefox browser. (I have speed dial set up like in Opera, with an easy mouse gesture that brings me right to speed dial. I can open up facebook, GTM, youtube, and my email in under 2 seconds.)
I also have all my fav websites set up with stylish (which doesn't work with Chrome.)
-
Probably faster, but the skins and themes are lame.
-
Im going to give it a big test drive now
IE went down the toilet when windows updated it to the new version and now there is rubbish all over my computer, IE without addons, IE, IE browser.. its icon spamming ?
and now as much as it saddens me I feel Firefox is going down too, a few toable isse I have been having with mine, I constantly try to update all the plugins and addons but still get issues out of it
-
ok I have tried it for solid few hour blocks across 1 or 2 days and while it takes getting used to and I have to add all my bookmarks, etc
overall I can say its great, definitely runs quicker then IE or Firefox ;) while I am getting used to it, it looks like its staying for the long run
-
Good!
:)
-
ive been using it for 2 days and im loving it.
-
yeah its now officially been upgraded to default browser lol
I went through and installed it on all other computers within my home network ;)
-
Wow, much better than safari which is somehow my default browser on a PC
-
THANKS TO YOU GUYS I DOWNLOADED THIS >:O
and I love it...
-
well I fixed mine :P
google chrome would load any pages, other sites said there was no known fix
I was using IE 8 as a sub but it kept crashing so I rolled it back to IE 6 which is much more stable and wouldnt you know Chrome now works :P
IE 8 = + :vista: :P
-
mega uber bumpage
My Chrome is phailing right now, always getting me "oops this page crashed" so BACK TO FIREFOX !!
Plus, Firefox's search engine is more handly IMO. But i might start to use favorites :P
-
FF uses Google as its default search engine. :P
-
AND GOOGLE CHROME DOESN'T, HOW IRONIC !
-
lolwut?
If you don't type in a valid address on the address bar, the phrase automatically goes into the Google search engine. :P
-
It links me to Ask.com :P
Maybe some stupid toolbar.
-
You probably installed something that makes Ask.com your default engine. That would be your fault, not Google. :P
-
I made the jump back to FF a long time ago after chrome failed
-
Ever since I started using Chrome I've liked it more than firefox. Firefox used to use upwards of a GB of my memory after a while of browsing, whereas chrome uses almost none of my memory. Although at the end of the day it's still personal choice, just like everything.
-
I've never had any problems with chrome. It certainly beats Firefox pigging out on my ram.
It's also got this handy feature (which I think Firefox doesn't have) where you can select text on a webpage and drag it to the tabs bar to do a search/go to the url (if it isn't hyperlinked).
-
Firefox has this handy free plugin for a free download of any youtube video in a multitude of formats.
-

Chrome lets you search just about any wobsite through the address bar. Type, say, youtube.com; hit the "tab" button on your keyboard; enter your search terms and hit enter. Blam! You just saved yourself a step!

Plus it circumvents their new instant search gayness.
Yes, I know it can be turned off.

Has anyone here tried the IE9 beta? It surprisingly decent.
-
no matter what, IE < GC < FF
-
and no matter what, IE < GC < FF
Can I see the logic behind that statement?
-
I find chrome the best just because it doesn't take 75% of my coms resources while IE, Opera, FF all eat up my resources
-

Yes, it's actually pretty promising.
Although I am ashamed to say that I still probably won't use it due to extreme fanboyism :(.
-
IE decent
:bigO:
How is such a thing possible?
-

You should have made your first post in the New Members section!!!......IE9 beta? ....when did Starcore come out with that?
-

IE fails, its slower and not as cool looking. GC is TOO simple. might be faster by a tad but FF has all the gadgets (speed dial, mouse gestures, personas, etc.)

Well yeah I agree about the IE thing (of course).
Chrome comes with its own version of speed dial by default. (http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=95451) It has skins available as well (https://tools.google.com/chrome/intl/en/themes/index.html), and has an addon for mouse gestures (http://www.chromeplugins.org/extensions/chrome-gestures-google-chrome-mouse-gestures-extension/).
-
Gawww.... Noodle beat me to it. I was just about to post this:
Chrome has both speed dial and mouse gestures in its list of extensions (https://chrome.google.com/extensions). It also has themes (https://chrome.google.com/extensions) which work similarly to FF personas.
Until recently, IE has always come pre-installed on new computers (now your seeing Chrome on some). Although I don't have any recent studies, I can say that at one point IE was the slowest and least secure of the three browsers.
FF is a neat browser with the most features but it isn't as practical as Chrome IMO. Personas are neat but can't be combined with themes (so they are essentially pictures with the default icons on top). In terms of quantity of addons, FF has Chrome beat.
Chrome is the newest and least mature of the three. For that reason, people seem to experience the most problems with Chrome. Chrome is the fastest and most secure of the three. Chrome has most of the good addons from FF; as well as having its own gems.
-
IE9 is twice as fast as IE8!
(but still half the speed of chrome)
-
Firefox is da best. :approve:
-
Actually, IE9 is very, very nice. If I hadn't known about Chrome, I would prefer this over FF.
-
Blasphemy :P
how safe is it ? previous IE's were known for not being as secure as Chrome or FF

funny enough, despite me using FF I think of it as....
Chrome > FF > Screenshot of a website in Paint > IE
but Chrome had that screw up thingo due to the way the installer works.. I am yet to download and try it again with the new version. my other computer has Chrome on it though.. I just barely use that computer :P
I run bare FF right now.. all the little novelty things are fun to start with but you load your FF up and it gets slower and slower when really I go on the internet for viewing websites so Speed > Novitiates.
-
Also, it doesn't slow my PC down.
1 theme doesnt.. but load on heaps of addons and themes, etc then wait for a new FF update and your in for a world of waiting :P
-
Chrome has the coolest icon, so I use it.
Whammo.
Chrome > FF > Screenshot of a website in Paint > IE
^^ Yes
-
I downloaded Chrome when it first came out. I didn't like the interface of it, mainly because I'm used to the Safari interface, but since I just use my school laptop, my school is obsessed with the browser Camino, which is far, far worse. So Im giving Chrome a second shot.
Oh and W00T! Reier's back!
-
I've got Chrome going at the moment, and I can't see a massive difference in page loading times than IE. But you can see more of the page, it's not cluttered up by useless toolbars at the top. Which is useful. I'll wait a few days until I pass full judgement, however.
-
if im not mistaken it gets faster the more you use it ?
-

I didn't know that (or notice it for that matter). However, if you're right it'd be a gradual change.
I'm curious as to how it'd go about doing this.
-
I recall reading somewhere it starts using history to load parts that haven't changed on a website so it only focuses on new stuff..
or something like that ?
I read it when I ran into the problem of looking at a website and not seeing the changes when I was told there was a new home page article... deleted the temp files, cookes, etc then it loaded the new article (it doesnt do this often but it was a small issue I got)
-
Firefox was laggy for me, so I changed it to Chrome, and I have to admit, that Chrome is really better! :approve:
