Download Festival
« on: June 11, 2014, 03:26:15 PM »

Has anyone on this forum ever heard of/going to this festival? I kinda want to know what people on this forum are in to (music wise.)

Never been to Download. Had tickets for 2010 but my Mum had an operation just a week before it so we couldn't go - sold the tickets and went to Sonisphere instead, and went to Soni again in 2011 (as did Madman3 I believe :P)

I think the bands this year are pretty good. I'm going on Friday and Sunday.

With 2 day tickets wouldn't it be just as expensive to buy a full weekend ticket? Anyway this year is pretty mediocre. If I had money I'd be doing Sonisphere despite having seen Metallica and Maiden before. Deftones, Prodigy etc make that a nice lookin' lineup to me. But I don't think anything will ever top Soni 2011 for me. Dat Saturday with Biffy and Weezer mmmmm.

I have things to do on Saturday and, besides, I have Friday free because my mate had to bail on his mates and decided to give me his ticket. Anyway, I like the bands that are on this year but I will say that nothing will top the Rammstein headline from last year, those Germans are beast.

I just came from rock im park wich had Metallica, Iron Maiden, Kings of Leon and Linkin Park as headliners. Also I saw Seether,Crazy Town, nine Inch Nails, Slayer,  Of Mice and Men, Trivium, Heaven Shall Burn etc.

Would like to go to DLF one day.

Yeah, and in many ways I'd recommend Sonisphere over Download if you prefer a more rounded lineup than just modern alt rock/alt metal. If that's your thing then you'd like Download a lot but I'd personally rather stick with Sonisphere, Bloodstock and Hellfest.

Sonisphere has a lovely layout too, preferable to DL from what I've heard.

I've seen the line-up for Sonisphere though, I have to say that there is nothing to see (imo) on Friday and Saturday and Sunday are only worth going to for the headliners.

Whether you're into them or not Prodigy will put on an incredible show. Plus, only the other 2 headliners? Deftones man. Deftones. For me both festivals this year are predictable and kinda boring.

I can see where you're coming from. Rob Zombie and some of Avenge Sevenfold and Powerman 5000 were the only redeeming factors of tonight's line-up. Still a good time though. Nothing great but nothing boring, either.

I dunno, you get Anthrax twice XD
Really, the Sunday looks extremely good for Sonisphere; besides Airbourne, all of the Apollo stage bands are extremely good and Gojira and DTP were great when I saw them live.

True, plus at Airbourne put on a good show, whether they're any good or not.
