Title: Do you like cars?
Post by: GameKing3 on June 27, 2009, 01:20:55 PM
I noticed that many people on this forum are also car fanatics.  So i decided to give them a place to show off their rides.  I am going to start it off with my Ford 1925 T-Bucket. 350 Stroked out, 761 Blower, puts out over 500 horsepower to the ground.

Well, there's this:

also have an '03 Silverado that's my main vehicle. (reg cab, short bed)

At some point, I need to get to fixing up a mid 60's boat that's been in the family since it was new. Splitting ownership on this with my uncle.

I've got a '99 Ford Explorer. I may or may not post pics. It depends on whether or not I feel like taking pictures the next time I drive.

Here's a small pic showing my Cthulhu fish:

Well these aren't cars, but they are my rides...

Hurricane Andrew:

For Pete's Sake:

(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/18401mexico 2008 fps.jpg)

Both are Model 126 Cub Cadet garden tractors which have been specially modified for pulling.

Stats:
-16 hp Kohler K-Series (single cylinder) motors bored out to .060 over
-Straight pipe exhaust
-Custom weight brackets underneath and on the front
-12x12x26in Carlisle tires
-They both run 113 otcane racing gasoline
-The blue one has the carrier out of a Ford Pinto in the rear end, because it is stronger than a stock carrier and can be easily modified to fit
-It also has a billet steel flywheel for safety.

Hurricane Andrew has 2 championships under it's belt, and For Pete's Sake has 4 of it's own.

The classes they pull in are 1050 lb. classes (meaning the weight of the tractor, driver, and helmet must add up to no more than 1050 lbs.)

They can pull (drag) 4000-6000 lbs. (2-3 ton) up to 250 feet.

Pretty good for a lawn mower, huh? lol

Edit: Yes, that is me driving them.

Why do you lean so far back?

The theory is that it will putt more weight on to the back tires, thus giving you more traction.

Don't see many cars like that in the Mid-US, let alone slammed. It's pretty cool though.

Edit: A note on my pulling tractors:
The blue one used to have blue street glows underneath it, a blue light-up shifter knob, and blue Tireflies (motion-sensitive light-up valve stem caps). It was pretty cool, but we took it all off when it got repainted. I hope to put it all back on someday.

I estimate that it can do about 15-20 mph, and you're right they are geared pretty low.

This tractor, on the other hand...:

has been clocked pulling the sled 22 mph. It has a motorcycle engine in it, not sure of the size. I took this picture, but it's hard to catch with a digital camera.

I love that almost "homemade" look of "The Rat". It gives the bike a style not really like any other, in my opinion.
Title: Do you like cars?
Post by: SpyGuy on July 01, 2009, 01:13:40 AM
Just for reference, guys, I'm 5'9, and the Purple Beastie is the same size as The Rat and The Zombie.  The Green Machine is actually slightly larger.  Several of the guys I ride with are in the 5'10-6'3 range, and can all fit comfortably on these bikes (and yes, some of the bigger guys do have midbikes, which are about the size of the chopper.  The chopper, btw, is about 2/3 scale.)

The Rat was almost a complete wreck when I got it - it had been very badly abused by a previous owner who was using a street bike as an off-road bike.  The only saving grace was that the engine turned over.  All the fairings were trashed, so I decided not to rebuild the bike as "stock," like the Purple Beastie (okay, that one's not exactly stock anymore, either, but that's another story).  Instead, I was going to rebuild the bike "redneck style," using whatever materials I had onhand to give the bike a unique look.  Some of the more interesting features of the bike include:
-DuPont spraycan muffler
-Altoids can air cleaner
-Dremel wrench killswitch cover
-BMX Mongoose footpegs
-Duct tape on front fork tube holding down brake cable (can't be a ratbike without duct tape!)
-Volkswagon gas filter
-Gas tank hardmounted to frame
-Wire mesh between seat and tank
-Custom seat made from gluing seatpad to 22-gauge steel sheet, cut to shape, then bolted to bike, using a cut-down office keyboard track for support
-Custom brackets for everything are in the works

I'm not going to list the other stuff I did with the engine, as it's a little technical and you guys probably wouldn't understand most of it, anyway.  Needless to say, though, the engine has been mildly warmed up.  The Rat can hit 30mph+ on a straight stretch.

Why a ratbike?  Why not?  Because it was a challenge seeing what I could do with what I had onhand.  Because it was a slap in the face to all the owners of the prettied-up bikes with their loads of chrome and 32 coats of hand-rubbed paint and wax.  Because it was different, something no one else had done before.  I wasn't trying to build a race bike - that's why I bought the Beastie.  This bike was for me, and for fun.  This is my signature bike, the one I'm most known for on PBP.

If you're interested in browsing through the pictures of my bikes on my PhotoBucket album, here's the link:

For starters, I own 2 Honda CT70 trail bikes. One is in clearly better shape than the other. The one I ride often is the first one, it is a 70cc 3 speed with a top speed around 35 MPH.

The other CT70 was bought for parts and is not in working condition. It needs several things, including a chain, an air cleaner, and a rebuild on the transmission. 2nd gear is not working properly.

Next is my Yamaha Moto4 100 quad. This is a shaft drive instead of the more conventional chain drive, which means you never have to tighten a chain but the gears on the rear end wear out and cost around $500 to replace. needs 2 new tires.

You are probably too young to know, but back in my day when you hopped up an old car with drum brakes and went over 100 MPH and hit the brakes, you may as well just let off the gas and downshift........THEY DID NOT WORK, your engine did a better job slowing you down!
I had a 1955 Ford and they had vacuum windshield wiper motors...... when you give it gas they lose vacuum and stop.......when you go real fast and let off the gas pedal the vacuum when real high and one time my wipers went so fast a blade came flying off. Yes it was hopped up and would go over a 100 MPH.....I am lucky to be still alive because you KNOW it had drum brakes. Disc brakes were not put on cars till mid 60's and I got my driver liscense in 73, so you know I drove disc brake cars for several years.
Title: Do you like cars?
Post by: GameKing3 on August 29, 2009, 02:26:29 PM
Well you are right about my age being to young to know that the older drum brakes don't work (hey just like obongo). Although i already knew that disc brakes started being used in the early 1960's. I have never really liked drum brakes that much myself anyways i just thought that it was funny that the brakes were one of the first thing you noticed although your story kind of explains it. Good story though ACAMS.

I was driving to the store to pick up stuff for my mom when I was younger than lra2.....wonder if he drives the family car to the store for his mom. When I was 7 or 8 I had access to all the guns in the house (except my dads Remington 742 30-06) and had my own .22 and could grab a gun and go hunting when ever I wanted! (except I found out real quick not to do it during school hours) Yep my dad was real perticular about his deer rifle, and as far as I know he is the only one to ever shoot it. He left me the gun when he passed and for that reason I have never shot it, it is just like he kept it. Anyway I grew up on a dairy farm/ranch and had to help with the cows and such so when I needed the truck or tractor I just went and got it. I was also plowing the fields with the tractor at 7 or 8 and was about 5 when I started driving the tractor.

I actually am planning on attending a University where I will study to be an automotive engineer.

...Much to ACAMS' dismay, I love JDM Bangers and hope to start my own motorsports corporation when I am out of college that specializes in engine swaps for USDM-JDM automobiles.

I'm fairly knowledgeable about mid 60s to mid 70s Pontiacs, primarily the Tempest/GTO line.
