DirectX 9 is overwriting DirectX 11
« on: August 22, 2011, 11:43:31 AM »
So you may remember that I recently got Windows 7 the other day.

Well, so far, it works flawlessly, and is far better than XP. But for some reason DirectX 9 (which I had on XP) is overwriting DirectX 11. This is shown in multiple games: Crysis 2 and any source engine game (other games I have don't show the DirectX level). I installed DirectX 11, reinstalled it, tried again, and again, but to no avail.

Is there any reason why this is happening?

Older games are not 10X or 11X compatible, so it uses 9

Yes, but Crysis 2 (The editor) says that I'm running DirectX 9. And I remember when I installed DirectX 10 on XP, HL2 said that my software DirectX level was DirectX 10. :/

It's a problem with Crysis 2, they first released the console-port version for the PC with only DirectX 9.

They said there will be a patch that allows for compliance with DirectX 11, and they released it here: http://www.mycrysis.com/dx11.
