Does it BSOD before restarting?

That sounds to me like you've deleted some kind of critical startup component. Try running it in Safe Mode, and see if it still happens.

It works in Safe Mode

Listen for beeps on startup, then go here to see what is wrong. http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm (http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm)

I'm not sure what I am supposed to be listening for, or which BIOS type I have.

Beep errors stop it from booting up at all.
I have a computer which gives me beeps and a laptop that does the BSOD thingy. BSOD thingy is usually easier to cure (though I couldn't be bothered to fix it). If you can turn auto restart off, note down what kind of error you are getting from the BSOD.

How do I turn auto restart off?

Okay, so the BSOD said I might not have adequate disk space or to check for BIOS updates and disable caching and shadowing for BIOS. What now?

:vista:

^That.

Seriously, though... You probably have a bunch of unnecessary crap that opens on start-up. Things such as instant messengers, updaters and other junk are usually set to open on start-up by default.

Uninstall the programs or change the "open on start-up" setting to free up some RAM. Then run virus and trojan scans to make sure there isn't something else hogging your RAM, as well.

Any specific programs I should look for?

Windows Live Messenger, Skype, AIM, Yahoo Messenger, ICQ(?), uTorrent, Frostwire, Norton AntiRAM.

Pretty much anything that didn't come installed the computer may do that.

I have an Adobe updater that bugs me constantly and I can't make it go away, but it isn't much of a RAM hog.

Oh yeah, what about that personal attack you sent me via PM? Not to mention this is this internet, grow up or get out.

Pretty much anything that didn't come installed the computer may do that.

Could FRAPS cause a problem?

It's always a possibility, I suppose. How much RAM does your PC have?

Yikes. I have heard worse, but that's pretty bad for today's standards. Windows Vista or 7 would probably require that just to run the OS.

What OS is on it? XP, Vista, 95, 7?

XP, and I uninstalled FRAPS. That was not the problem.

Perhaps there is something less extreme, but I'll keep that in mind.

Something tells me it's not the hard drive, but that's just me.

Have a check to see how big certain folders are in your Program Files. Delete ones that are more than 20mb that you don't use, that's bound to help.

Okay, so I've been searching around for ways to fix this and I've tried some of them, but they still don't work. I"m thinking of just getting a new computer. Would that be better than trying to fix my current one?
