Title: boot camp
Post by: Sage on August 03, 2009, 09:28:29 PM
hey, so as most of you know my computers fried. in light of that though, my father had a work macbook pro that he said i an use/have. one probme though. RA2 is not a mac program.

I have never used a mac before, but I have seen you talking about a program called boot camp that allows one to use a windows OS on a mac.

I don't have a windows OS disk... Can i make a copy off a windows computer? Do i have to buy a new one? does boot camp work if I download the OS off the internet?

Basically, I need a walkthrough. Can anybody help?

Instead of using bootcamp, try to run RA2 using Crossover Games. It's a program that simulates Direct X and other Windows APIs and lets you run applications and games. There's a trial on their website, google it.

Hm, well no luck with wine-based applications then.
Boot camp is a nightmare to install, you will need a legal Windows XP install CD (I tried with a copy, it didn't work). Good luck. Hopefully you'll be able to get it to work.

I thought that only applied to Vista. I couldn't notice the difference for XP and 7. XD

I know, but it just amazes me a OS that was never meant to run on a PC runs better than those specially designed for them (I get very smooth 3d accelereation and desktop composition).

If you want to play RA2, keep to PC.

Believe me Boot Camp pained me enough on my comp (even with only windows on a macbook)

And get windows XP as well...

Well, I got Windows 7 up and running perfectly on my Mac, with Mac installed on the other hard drive partition. You do have to install all the drivers for Windows when you first install it on the Mac hard drive, but it works perfectly after that.

Boot Camp is good!
oh. windows7 > xp
