I love rat rods, they have so much more character than "easter egg" painted cars. Those are some nice pipes, unfortunatly they aren't street legal.

As many of you know, this is my car:

K-3, I'm also from the MidWest. And there are allot fewer laws out there, than here in Mass. A cop once pulled me over in my Chevy-powered Fiat, just to ask if he could drive my car.
Cuda, nice rod. Wouldn't want to be sitting next to it at a light, when someone tromps on it....

imagine.. that motor in a car that doesn't weigh but half of that truck plus 90% less drag...

My car: 1984 300zx twin turbo 3.0 5 spd.

Dont think I'm bragging it needs alot of work on the suspension but it flys balls.

about the truck though (i'm not bashing) I just hate Nos. turbos, superchargers,  and blowers are kewl. personally I favor the whine of the turbo.

I'll take some pics of my car tomorrow (it looks horrible) and post them.

I really like the whine of a turbo or blower too.  But Nitrous is subtle, free(non-taxing power wise), lower heat, and endless HP (until your lower end gives out... hehe).

Yep. :D Here is some information I can think of off the top of my head. Haven't seen the car since July, its in storage but I plan to get it out this weekend.

- 350 Smallblock
- Manual (Duh.)
- 400-450 HP... not really sure, probably should get a dyno. :P
- Hotchkis Rear Suspension Kit (Recently bought, not currently on the car)
- Custom hood, can't remember what brand though.
- Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold.
- Flowmaster Exhaust Pipe Kit

When I first got it the car it was rusty and just a mess really, and when I started to restore it I wanted to keep it mostly stock. I changed my mind over time and I am actually debating wether or not to make it completely a drag racing car. I take it down to the track in the summer anyways, but I still think it would be cool... dunno.

Goose, you can have that car if you want it. ;)

Getting 1 HP per cubic inch is hard to do with your setup......I would guess 300 - 325 (at best) unless you have very good heads and an almost unstreetable cam.

I am actually debating wether or not to make it completely a drag racing car.

The car weighs almost 2 tons......most people that drag race those use a well built bigblock!

It would make a nice daily driver.

Ah, well ..... here's my daily driver:1973 Volkswagon Bug, 1600ccc dual-port engine, "old's cool" paint job, '79 transmission, new headliner, still working on the interior.  This was taken at a mini car show/cancer benefit.  Yes, that's my pint-sized ratbike in front.

Post by: andrewm0304 on December 09, 2008, 02:12:10 PM
Yeah, I was never quite sure what the actual HP was, sounds stupid I know. I think that it is higher than that though, probably 350-375 when I think about it. I was planning on doing a lot of work to prepare it for a drag racing car, completely new engine and all that. I just picked up a new car to work with so I might just experiment and see if I can do it with that one.

Cool bike SpyGuy. :D

Kill:  Those are the originals that came with the car.  I left 'em as is.

Andrew: Here's a couple more pictures of The Rat:
47cc NF Cagllari/Daytona pocketbike, 1st generation frame. (Year unknown)

Background: Bike was a craigslist.com special for $ 80.00, quite a mess when originally received - previous owner had used it as an offroad bike, and in sorry shape.

Current list of modifications:
-Modified VW gas filter
-Altoids can air cleaner
-DuPont spraycan muffler
-Dremel wrench killswitch cover
-Gas tank hard-mounted to frame, barb on tank drilled out two sizes larger
-Gas cap modified with breather tube, topped by in-tank gas filter
-Custom seat, pad glued to sheet steel, supported by cut-down office keyboard track
-BMX Mongoose footpegs on original tapped studs
-Custom "Street Freeks" logo on side of pullstart
-Duct tape on front fork leg holding down brake cable

Miscellaneous Other Specifications:
-Wheels: Zhongya 90x6.5 front, 110x6.5 rear
-Gearing: 7th pinion, 68th sprocket
-Carburetor: ported stock, 72 jet, all Phillips screws on carburetor replaced with Allen head screws
-Petcock modded by drilling out original holes to 1/8", knob channelled deeper
-Triple stage reed mod
-Reed stop mod
-NGK spark plug

Top end: about 30-ish mph last time I checked.  It sure draws a crowd whenever I take it out for a run, or to a show.  The owners of a motorcycle shop were having a grand re-opening, and invited me and several of the guys to come do a demo race in their back parking lot.  All day,  people were walking by the bike, and saying, "How did you do that?  Look at what this guy did to his bike!"  Lotsa fun ...
