"Tune Up" Software Review
« on: February 10, 2010, 02:14:33 AM »
I don't know if anyone else has seen the advertisement on TV for Tune Up, the thing that is supposed to clean up your iTunes library, but I am going to write a review on it.

First off, its is not a free program, but there is a free trial version available that allows you to "clean" up to 100 songs in your library and download cover art for up to 50 albums.

The software did not work as expected at all.

The TV advertisement depicts Tune Up "cleaning" song with names such as "Track 01" "Track 02", etc, but I found that it couldn't do this as well as it was depicted. I had several songs that had no album names and I wanted it to find the album names and fill it in for me, but it couldn't do it.

As far as cover art goes, it may have worked, but apparently their system doesn't cater to those of us without a DSL connection. I was left with several album covers that were only partially there.

I do not recommend using Tune Up, as it is far easier to find the information and and cover art on Google.

Anyone still interested in trying it for yourself can download it here:

This one is better than just sorting out your music folders, this thing can fix problems and clear unnecassary temporary files and speed up your computer some if you choose to set it to high performance instead of high quality.

This aint free either, but quess who has a free register key and can share? Just remember to get the 2009 version, as I have no idea if this key will work on the 2010 one.

How hard is it to sort music manually? It may take some time for a big collection, but it's really worth it.

Your music wouldn't be a mess if you didn't download it from crap sources / rip CD's without getting labels from CDDB or FreeDB. Don't expect that the computer will "do" everything for you - maintaining a clean music collection takes some time and patience.
