You are welcome to say keep them all or if you vote out a team you can post what you feel is wrong or inadequate about the team.
Any teams we do remove will make room for that many more new teams from the current RA2 community (Diverse, Effective, Creative).
We are at 36 current teams and I am setting a max of 45 teams for the pack which will take us to 270 diverse Stock bots.

I am curious about the fate of any already rebuilt robots from a removed team. Would they be removed well? Would the best machines be placed in a special "legacy team?"

Good question: At this point, prior versions of the Starcore packs are where the "legacy teams" reside. For example, the bot WAN Mower was retired from Starcore v1 to v2.
And we have captured all of the Starcore v4 Alpha 2 bots as a named collection in a Robot Designs folder for anyone that wants to look at the prior in the bot lab (to compare for example).
But at this point, if a bot is being replaced it is because there are newer and better techniques to show off. The new version had to be able to beat the bot it is replacing and preferably multiple other bots of its same weight class in the Starcore pack.
Consider removal a retiring to pasture for the replaced bots.

Whoops, I didn't answer your question.
For bots that are a rebuild of a bot but not used in that specific spot, the plan is to find another spot that it might fit or yes as we have a group of them from various builders, would be happy to see if we can form a new themed team from the not used rebuilt bot(s).
That is assuming they are Diverse in their building techniques, Effective as a bot both in design and combat ability, and Creative which covers theming, texturing, and how cool it is.
Bots that are submitted that generic, combat weak and/or little to no effort to theme, I will let the builder know how to improve their entry so they can take it back to the grind stone.

The only teams that I would think might be excluded are the old Member teams, such as ACAMS Cleaning Service, as it would perhaps be wrong to have those teams with bots that are not built by those members. Otherwise, I don't see any team that can't be updated.

I'd agree with you, but that'd be nearly half the pack.

Not the ones that are specifically based on a user (C2 Robotics, Team XORB). Most of the teams have proper gimmicks.

Gemini is not with us anymore. This was a case that the bots were decent enough but nothing distinctive. Things like the bot named Alien Predator was his choice and nothing particularly wrong with it so I didn't force a change.
Is a case of if people vote to remove/replace the team as not competitive then so be it. I realize the other option is to rebuild many/most of the bots to be modern competitive.

I would be happy with preserving all the teams and general bot designs for legacy's sake; there should be no problem making any outdated bots competitive for today's standards. If everyone is confident that the project will be seen through to completion for building, AI'ing, and properly skinning all 216 bots then it should remain the goal. Otherwise it might be worth putting priority on certain teams to start, in case things slow down and official release needs to be pushed.
