Title: That mod I was on about
Post by: RedSawn on December 24, 2009, 06:50:59 AM
So, a while ago I mentioned I was making a Stock rebalance mod. CataGORE seems to of tanked as far as I know but it didn't stop me anyway.

Was working on it for a while, but now the need to constantly select things one by one to compile into a CFZ (I don't think it's possible to select multiple things with Lu-Tze's CFZ (de)compiler) is getting tiresome. And also brings a constant chance of missing out a TXT file in the list of 60 or so. Ofcourse, the whole process needn't be, but I just like to be (mildly) professional about things.

I figured the component menu could be more compacted anyway, so now I'll be starting totally from scratch, separating the huge CFZ into several smaller ones based on part types. With lots of changes such as having many more component groups in the bot lab (The BOT files use directories to reference parts, and I'd be changing those around to make the drop down lists of parts, basically) as such, there will be very few designs that could imported.

But anyway, it's a stock rebalance mod with extra features, intended to be very customizable ingame (say like, wheels which you can trade off extra traction for more armor, or the other way around)

But would you guys want it, and what would you -really- want out of something like this?

sounds ok to me

I dont quite understand the components section, your going to add everything to style's ?? or edit the components menu itself ?

removing optimization on component should be fun, make it rewarding for players that use other components

Yeah, add and take a lot of things to/from styles. I was trying to do a everyday man's description.

well lets see what we have now or future..

Stock

DSL 2

DSL 2 - Rebalanced (Nar, 123 or both combined)

I say there is a huge wide open position asking for a rebalanced stock to even things out... I think its what stock needs, look at the ratio thread I made, sorry to say but stock is slowly dieing out in popularity, if we want more tournaments, showcases, etc I think it could do with some new life  ;)

Hmm, realistic, semi-realistic or not though? That's a key question.

I think maintain stock rules, glitches, etc but just a face lift on the components and extra things you mentioned before

Well, Christmas is over, so I'm back home. Work will continue eventually. Yeah, was working away while the topic was inactive. The whole not double posting thing. Well, keeping it within reasonable bounds anyway.

The air tanks and batteries have been tweaked - the air tanks are lighter and provide more air, and the pink battery will be reskinned to look like the Blackvolt, that battery we kept seeing in Season mode but never got our hands on. It'll have have better stats, but it still won't beat a Nifty.

There'll be a smaller air tank and also a bigger battery then the Supervolt. The air tanks will use Styles - however I'm contemplating against doing the same for batteries since if I did put them in Styles there'd be only 3 items in the Power section of the Components screen - there wouldn't even be a scrollbar.
