Just wanted to point people to something that might have been lost over time or even unknown to some of the newer members. Might be a few lost gems in here that didn't make it onto the gametechmods download list that some might want to check out.

He's hosted that database for years, Hurricane.

Anyway, it still has some useful files. Haven't checked if the selection is much different to the GTM one though.

I noticed the Jousting Arena made by Lu-Tze and instantly started planing around with it and thought of a Jousting tournament after I finish CC2....would anyone be interested ? it would be AI of coarse...and also the main thing is the arena.... I dont really know how to approach this but is it ok to use Lu-Tze's jousting arena for a tournament ? im just thinking as it wasn't released in like DSL or something ?

it would work like how knights did it angle weaponry to the right hand side of the robot and just ram into each other.. who ever has the most points after the first hit wins.. just AI the bots with no LeftRight commands

I think if we mount weapons on a burst, so when in range they fire (putting the jousting impliment into position) and thus they joust.

O yeah ... just use bigger smartzones like some of Mad's to get them to fire at the right time.. nice thinking S32.. im going to test the idea more before I start the tournament anyway

You need some kind of a target to hit in a jousting tournament.  Make some large, weak, custom component that must be present and accessible somewhere on every entry, and whoever knocks it off the other bot wins.  In the event of a tie then you could go by points.

The main problem would be AI'ing, though I'm sure there would be some way to do it.

I think I should combined the ideas... have a robot with no leftright command to that will only rush forwards... if that fails then you could always have no forward or leftright and wire the bot to charge on a button spin and use omni either way

like what S32 said have the bots move the weapons out to fight via snapper.. getting them to fire using mad's big smartzones

and have something like the beetle brothers clown bomb (minus the damage) big and with only 1 HP so easily be broken off  

before I make the tournament I think I will test some designs and then give them out so people can get the idea of how to build one

I made that! haha so long ago. Simple VB app that just writes text documents with a py extension if I remember correctly.

Glad to have helped atleast a few people. It didn't get much attention when it was released either. Everyone modding at the time enjoyed DIY more and I can't blame them as its much more thurough and you get a better understanding of what's going on.

HX_, you need to show up more often. I do appreciate your work, I guess cause I run into it often...
 
Joust AI: Set up the bots with breakable weapons that would meet in the center, as stated above. Then code the bot's headings toward a certain location straight ahead of them. Then at the buzzer, just have them "put the pedal to the metal".
 
(Thought: Maybe 'multiple passes' could be coded in the same match...)
