Please do. The more bots to play with the better. Only if possible though. May I ask if it does happen, could others potentially happen as well? Just thought I'd ask the question.

Also, nice work on the new bots. Top quality as always. Glad to see a decent sized expansion will be coming soon :)

Didn't i see something in another thread about HereticBlue's Razer being included in this next release of DSL. is this still true?

I didn't know this was public.  I guess I can talk about it then.  HB offered to give me Razer a while ago, but I was initially hesitant to accept because Razer was already in DSL (which I spent quite a bit of time upgrading!) and I wanted to minimize overlap between DSL and RW RA2.  Now that I know HB's Razer won't be appearing in RW RA2, though, I'd gladly put it in DSL.  It should be in at least one mod.

Keep up guys... :)

Unfortunately I need to announce the expansion will be delayed a week

Oh good.  For some reason I had it in my head that the release date was the 26th, not the 22nd, and just today I realized that the 26th is a Tuesday and the 22nd would make more sense for a release, and I didn't have the studio arena hazards done...

The extra week should allow me not only to finish the studio arena hazards, but add collision lines and stuff to the other arenas as well.

I hope I'm allowed to post teasers here.  The flipper in the new studio arena is done and I just finished the pit release, and I must say I'm pleased with the results.  The pit now emits a plume of smoke when a bot falls in.  :mrgreen:

And I have it in mind for the arena to import a random object at the beginning of every match for the drop zone -- either a fridge, a washing machine, or whatever else they've dropped on the show.  You won't know what it is until it falls on you.  Anybody have a list of everything Robot Wars has used in the drop zone?

The arena from the mod currently releases some smoke when a bot goes in the pit.  It also happens when a bot goes out of the Arena.

Anybody have a list of everything Robot Wars has used in the drop zone?
Off the top of my head, there was a grand piano, A television, a buoy, a stove, some scrap metal, a couple car wheels, and some various sports balls (like bowling balls, and some golf balls here and there).

Edit: Oh yeah, they also dropped the robot Golem in the German Wars.

Huh, so it does.  That must be new.  Lu-tze's original arena didn't do that.

Thanks, that should do for some nice variety.  I'm not going to make a grand piano model, but some of those others are doable.  The sports balls will be amusing.

Whey, Team effort! Cheers Click really appreciate the help you've been giving us. ;)
As for dropzone clutter, if there's anything juicy you don't have the time to knock up... Let me know!

Balls are fun but they could cause lag from the polygons, hmm. I can sort out the empty RW barrels they had in pinball you could lump a few together for that.

As for Golem being a hazard, annoyingly we'd need permission for that, but you could include that as a DSL exclusive. ;)

The arena that came with the mod is a fiddled/fixed version of Lu-Tze's. Still not up to scratch, hence the new one!

And yeah if you want to show a few teasers, be my guest!


RedAce, I made the arena for the expansion but it would've literally been a box with oota zones and pit. And that's what you see in the teaser. Clicks doing the fancy important stuff that I'm too thick to work out how to do like hazards!

I think he's referring to the second collision mesh  that flips with Eruption's flipper.

When the flipper comes off the robot is still able to flip other bots, I think there's a couple others that do it to but I'm not sure, it may just be a simple reinstalling

Yeah - even after you knock his flipper off, he can still flip you around as if nothing happened.
