Out of curiosity how are you structuring this mod?

Are you going to release small bits of it along the way or do in one big go?
Also whats exactly in it as in what are hoping will be in it?

Jesus, I didnt expect that many replies, cheers lads! Since I'm not an ignorant b____d, I'm going to make the effort to reply to every one of you.  :violin

I posted my thoughts in the Pay Tribute thread, I think it looks awesome.

Atomic's flipper looks sweet as well. Glad to see a true to life Atomic replica in RA2 (God knows my stock version isn't :P).

Also, for requests, how about Grim Reaper (Series 7 edition)? Always loved that robot.

Thanks mate, I didn't notice sorry about that. The Atomic bodywork is quite a complex wedge box in real life and with all those curves I think would be a challenge for anyone to make it 100% accurately, I wouldnt mind having another bash at it though.  ;) I do like Grim Reaper and its Battlebots style green framework, it depends obviously. there are so many replicas people want but only so many can fit in an AI and Robot Designs pack.

Atomic looks damn impressive. Thank You HB. I was having one of the worst days in recent memory but that made my day better.

Next challenge: Judge Shred 3
No bother! glad this perked you up. Judgeshred 3 I do like but i dont think it really made an impact on Robot Wars enough to be part of... well anything! I did like how it chucked Corkscrew out of the arena, but you cant mess with the Scottish.

to the general: it looks pretty good it just needs a higher resolution skin and some srews but they can be painted on

I was thinking exactly the same thing, although i noticed that when you import a higher resolution skin, you cant dirty it up which is very disappointing. If someone can track down some decent photographs or find US Season 2 battle with GC2 in it then I can have a good crack at a higher quality and more accurate skin. One of my jobs outside the interweb being 3d printing and recreational modelling I understand the importance of rivets. but working with such low quality skins on RA2 makes it not seem worth while. If it didn't slow the game down then I would add 3D rivets individually to the panels on the robots.

Love GC2 and Atomic. It'd be a shame if Wham didn't contact you to help him with his pack.

I'd personally like to see T2, Wheelosaurus or Pitbull.
I appreciate your enthusiasm... and Id have to agree, it would be quite disappointing. If Wham doesn't want me to have any involvement with the pack then I guess you'll end up having a very extensive Robot Designs & components pack to play with and AI yourself. Regarding your suggestions, T2 & Pitbull Id quite like to do but it will probably have to wait until I have made the most popular robots, then I'll be looking for last resorts to finish filling up the Robot Designs pack.

I would love to see Gravity personally ;)

Finally a international, yet popular robot suggestion!    Gravity I see as essential but in the game I can see its characteristics being similar to Wheely Big cheese.... too similar. Again the plexiglass thing is a worry. and there is a bit of complexity to the shells shape but I might be able to pull it off. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Tough As Nails for Holland and Tsunami for Germany should have the priority over gravity being more successful outside of RW Series 7... And I'm not just saying that because they were my first attempts at this project.  :p Haha.

make this robot!
(it is a robot, check the AWS43 video for details.)

HAHA geet stuffed!  :rage It would be hilarious to make but imagine how small it would be on the game if I did it to scale!  :embarr

If he's not making Elvis, he's not making that.

Heh, you've got a thing for Elvis haven't you ;) You sound like my lass' mam, does my nut in. half of the mugs in her house have Elvis' face on them. (not the robot)  :gawe:

I love Atomic. Nice one on that.
I have made an amateur replica of Eruption. I'll try and get a few pics uploaded if you want.

Yea feel free mate, send them through my inbox.

Is there any chance you will be making Mute or M2 replica's?

Don't tempt me! I absolutely adore Mute. I like M2 quite a bit aswell, that unique barrel wedge chassis really interests me. M2 would have to wait until I gain more experience but Mute I think would be a breeze.

Out of curiosity how are you structuring this mod?

Are you going to release small bits of it along the way or do in one big go?
Also whats exactly in it as in what are hoping will be in it?

Its nice to see someone ask this. What I am doing is not really a mod as such, what I am doing is creating what is assumed by the forum users as the most popular or liked robots from Robot Wars to potentially join the Whams Robot Wars AI pack as additional AI teams. The less popular robots out of the 'chosen ones' will be exported into the robot designs folder for use in the game by the user, much like when you play one of the Robot Wars Extreme/Arenas of Destruction games and one of your first robots is mediocre replica.

What the user will be getting out of my contribution to the Robot Wars AI pack is an extensive recapture of the Robot Wars essence rather than another influence on the Robot Arena 2 game. With this additional replicas you can upgrade them and compete against a vast array of other replicas rather than just a handful and feeling the limitations of a small pack.

And finally to end this post positively, something I completely forgotten about, Wild thing.

If this post doesn't make much sense, I have drank quite a bit since I started typing so my apologies!

Cheers
Adam

Any possibility of bots from the modern era. wouldn't mind an Eruption rep

I would like to make Eruption, Iron Awe 6 and Ripper but for the time being I'm focusing on popular Robot Wars competitors. This is probably the closest you're going to get to a modern replica from me for the time being and it only uses reskinned flipper panels and a skirt hinge burst with added oomph.

Damn. oh well. what about doing Cassius 2?

Since you seem to be a pro at this, would you consider making SGT bash? You seem capable, but if you can't, I understand.
Just thought I would point it out.

What would be the point of a Robot Wars mod without crap competitors? I would lol so hard to see a destruct-a-bubble against that Atomic or wild thing, could you make it? Or is it only series 7 competitors with a few exceptions?

I don't think that there's any others I successfully exported, never mind skinned. Mega Morg reached the same stage as Xterminator but I since it is quite a boring robot, just there for the fun of the crowd I guessed it would be useless until I could skin it.

Fluffy and Storm II I think made a damn good impression but would be worth getting thrown into a pack of All Stars, mind I do tink Storm II has more right to be included than Typhoon. I'll try and replicate it in a way that it will perform like the real thing. I managed to AI the Tornado with the scoop I made a few month back and that scoops you up and rams you into the wall in a Tornado sort of manner.

Wham has already made the body for Cassius 2 and I expect that he is also working on the flipper prior to AIing. Roobarb, Constrictor, & Trax are barely noticed one timers so I doubt there being much point in making them.

What about football, bacon, cigarettes and a Lamborghini? ;) I dont see there being much point in doing Firestorm I. Its too easy for anyone to make in Botlab, like my replica in the err... Replicas thread. I do quite like Steg 2 and Kronic but neither made a good impression in the wars.
Pressure was bollocks, Mighty Mouse Wham has already done, but I guess I can always improve it.  :approve:
Tom, I wish you hadn't mentioned Sgt Bash, I'm really damn tempted! I just don't see what purpose a house robot could  have in a competitor AI pack. Maybe something for the Robot Designs folder?

Playzooki, nope, neit, never. :P Why not Psycho Chicken? That look stupid and fluffy. ;) would be fun destroying it with a spinner too!

Right, done so far for AI...
#Splinter
#3 Stegs To Heaven
#General Chompsalot 2 (US)
#Cerberus (Cyprus)
#Smidsy
#Wild Thing
#Kan-Opener

Completed for Robot Designs pack
#Xterminator 3
#Atomic

Hows this for the projects list?

AI:
#Mega Morg (Wales)
#Mighty Mouse
#Trident
#Robochicken
#Psycho Chicken or Mad Cow? (US)
#Tough As Nails (Dutch)
#Tsunami (German)

Robot Designs:
#Spawn Again
#Sgt Bash
#Mute

Oh I forgot to show you all this, The claws are from DSL 3 but reskinned and revamped, the battering ram is new and the shell is made in botlab but protected from a custom protective invisible shell, the only way to destroy it being to hit with an axe where the name is on the top of the body.

I'm not 100% happy with it but the custom shell was not working how I wanted it to, this might be the best your going to get for the 2 time Annihilator champion.

The good thing is with the claws is that like General Chompalot, if it gets a hold of you, then you will be stuck until it either lets go or you shake it loose in battle. So who said crushers don't work in Robot Arena 2?   ;)
