I think it's only fair that I write this post in this thread.
The pack will be discontinued from my end. I will no longer be working on it due to the fact that I no longer have time to do stuff like this. I'm currently in a hard stage of life and so would just be holding the pack until 2018 if I was to continue it. So I will no longer be doing any more work on it.
However, I have handed all rights over to HereticBlue to use everything I have made for this pack (released and unreleased) for his amazing pack. I will be sending everything I have over to him later on. Please go and support HereticBlue's work as it is incredible!!
I'm really sorry that I won't be able to continue this pack, but I will occasionally be around on the forums to see how everyone's doing and how things are going.

Now bigger and stronger. The disc is powered now by a 132 perm motor. Can now easily destroy other bots. Has also had a nice retexture :P

Scoop is now correctly proportioned, now a bit bigger in size, now has the top box instead of the weird inside stuff, and most importantly, it's lifter cage now lifts with the scoop, instead of just the scoop lifting up :P
Still need to work on some bursts for it as it can barely lift itself atm, but other than that, the majority is done! :)
And I figured it needs the axe other wise it's useless at causing any damage to other robots :P

Been working on that claw all ****ing day! Finally got something that I'm really happy with!
Works extremely well as a rammer, can charge at a robot and flip them over or badly damage them.
I was playing with the claw idea, however I decided the range available with the robot wouldn't be enough to cause any proper threat, plus the AI still needs refining, so it wouldn't work properlly when AI'd.
However, I'm extremely proud with how this turned out! :)
And it's actually just a skirt hinge :') (Call it a 'sin', but not the first time I've been considered for one :P) As I said I was playing with the idea but a working crusher barely does anything as opposed to the static claw/rammer version :)What I did with mine was to put it on a standard green burst motor, normally in the down position. Then once it fights, it can move up, and then snap back down again for a crushing effect. Wasn't much, but it was pretty decent. :P
I've tried that on other crusher bots aswell but it barely works when AI'd imo :')Fantastic! Just when I thought it couldn't get any better in terms of reps, you've outdone yourself again- I love the look of the new Dominator 2, particularly with how much more accurate it is in terms of size. The paintjob could be a little darker and the red outlines on the flame decals could be a bit thicker, but it's a bloody good replica. Well done again! :claping

Now a much more accurate size, and the axe can now hit bots with loads more accuracy, and a lot less jumping into the air :P
The chassis is now the wheel guards. It makes for a nice little target to aim for by other robots :P (I like to try and make these 'targets' available on all the replicas to make other robots equal to them when fighting if that makes sence :P)

Now more square, bit bigger (Factor of 1.1) And much more powerful. Still need to create a poly baseplate, the two 'eyes' on top and edit the spikes. Other than that, quite happy with this one :P (Was dreading starting on it lol)

Sorted out the main menu which Ducky designed.It's definitely looking pretty good so far though, especially with how all the buttons look. Is there any way the background could be animated, I wonder? If there is, then something like the swinging wires and turning cogs of the ED background could be good to replicate.

I can't get the options menu to be in the position Ducky showed though. These buttons seem to be positioned relative to a mysterious rectangle at the bottom of the screen and if I place them outside the rectangle it disappears. If anyone knows how to change this could you tell me? Currently only works at full screen highest resolution. Other than that it's all good.
I think if it was, someone would have found out by now :POoh, now that looks good. I remember seeing it as part of the original post announcing DSL3, and I've always liked how it looks. Taking into consideration its size, would a size comparison with another one of your replicas be possible? Thanks.

Click very kindly sent me the new Razer replica parts. Has been resized to a heavyweight size (as opposed to SHW size) and now works as a proper crusher when AI'd. That is all atm :P
And certainly GF :PAh yes, that's looking much more accurate- I remember the old one being twice as big as most of the other replicas put together! XD

And as for those asking for a beta, ect., i've been thinking today that as soon as I have 13 AI Teams done and the UI is finished then I can release a v1.0. Then that leave room for the future versions to have new arenas, added teams, ect.

Not a lot of tell. The flame pit needs to be moved and the flames themselves need their coordinates moved, aswell as the avoidance lines for the hazards. But, they're rather easy things compared to the ammount of head f***ery that went into flipping this around (the ammount of vertexes and such that needed changing... wow)
Anyway, probably the most sought after change for this arena has now happened. All the rest is just detail :P

I was just thinking about the lowering the pit slowly. I don`t know if you can trick the physics of the game but would something like this work:

2: that`s when you press the pitbutton. I know you can move stuff slowly in a horizontal way like the pitcover in the octagon and skull arena. the light grey bar moves as fast as you program it to the side and the pitcover moves slowly downwards.

Quick question though, does anyone know how to add more of a shine or reflection to a component? The shine strength for the domes is already set at 0.900000 but still not as shiny as I'd like. Any help?

Ahhh thanks :gawe:Fantastic! I love how Stinger looks with the spike, now. If it works the way it should with all the torque-reaction trickery it had in real life, I'd definitely say you've pulled off a particularly tricky replica very well. :D
But in all seriousness, it might not be for a little while. Before I can release it I need the UI to be completely finished, a few more replica bots done, and I'd love to include the robots from the upcoming RW Tournament I'm doing in the pack :)

I tried one version of Mortis already, but it failed massively. Not that I have this new method under my belt however, I may consider it ;)You will? It's got quite a good method behind it for the axe which accurately replicates its speed, so hopefully that can help you with it.
As for the video, I'm trying to stay clear of videos as the detail in them is not the best.

Humm... What about Redoing Chaos 2, Hypno Disc, Pussycat or Razer...?They've been remade already. HypnoDisc and Razer are pretty much using their DSL3 versions, and Pussycat and Chaos 2 have been generally improved, too. So yes, they're already there more or less.

Oh, did he upgrade its side srimechs?Not yet from what I know, those particular ones have always been there since Series 6. They should be once it's ready though, considering Steel Avenger's also had its srimechs improved to modern standards.

GUYS.... HELP.... I just modified the X-Terminator 2 body mesh and now the game goes to the first splash screen, doesn't do anything, then the game crashes.... That's not a problem with the replica. If I'm right there will be a temp.cfg in the RA2 folder. Just install all of the folders over a clean copy of RA2.

As for the teams, I'm trying to think about things from a tournament point of view. I'd like each time to have 1 robot from the RW games in the 3rd spots. So for example, the 1st team to have Chaos 2, the 2nd to have Hypno-Disc, the 3rd to have Razer, ect., rather than putting all of them together in one team. I have a few team combo's sketched out already, and once I have the nessecary amount of robots, then I can work on organising all of them into their proper teams :)Ah, that's a good idea. That way, you'd be able to fight the most well-known ones in the Single-Player HW Tournaments, which would be very cool indeed. Eye's have 1 hitpoint, and the lifter once fired won't go back down unless it's moved down with force (it won't go back down on it's own, a bit like a spring loaded system almost)
I would have it fire multiple times because otherwise it's pretty pointless from an RA2 stand point.Yeah, I think that'd be good. Diotoir's IRL flipper mechanism could retract and fire multiple times, but it took time to do so.

Wham. you could put a special motor component on the inside of diotoir with very low hitpoints. when it`s hit it starts buring like the regular motors when they recieved to much damageOr just use flamethrowers.
I feel this is long overdue:Love the look of them all so far! One thing I could recommend for Thermidor though, would be to make the black blocks that hold the claws on (Burst Motors?) a bit smaller. They cause the claws to jut out a bit too much, but once that's sorted out, it should look more-or-less perfect. :P

And yes Thermidor is in scale with the others :POK. Just as a suggestion though, I think that the burst motors could be made a little narrower- so that it's a little more compact, like the real machine-

What's wrong with generic bots? The robot combat community is hardly booming enough to make demand for random unknown bots, it just makes much more sense to put time into bots that lots of people really want, rather than bots 1 person cares about.

Question, Will the SP tournaments be based off Real RW Series (like a S7 tournament and a S2 tournament) Or will they be based off the AoD and ED tournaments, or completely messed up
And well you might aswell use what you can find. I don't think the game developers particularly counted on us to be looking through the textures of their game, so they just used whatever they could find that worked well.
Nothing in regards to XTRA bots so far - the Rookie's team however might be some fictional bots that use the costume components included in the pack. Same goes for XTRA.Very nice. Wonder how it'd look in orange? :P

Updated Panic AttackVery nice so far, man. My only recommendations would be to move the Spider on the lid up a bit (I have a texture for the lid which has this fixed, if you need it), and if possible, the skirts could be lowered down and stretched so that they don't clash with the text on the sides, and they're as long as the rest of the chassis. Other than that though, I love how it looks. :P

What are you excited for of the robots in this AI Pack?I don't know much in terms of real robotics but I like the looks of X-Terminator.
Anyway, I would like to ask you guys something about the AI pack:I like the looks of a lot of them, myself- particularly with Suicidal Tendencies, X-Terminator, Chaos 2, Plunderbird 5, Terrorhurtz, and the American robots. I'm also particularly looking forward to seeing the new Razer, Mortis, and Cassius II once they're ready. :P

you tried this yet? i managed to recover pretty much all of my stuff after my hard drive gave out on me a couple of weeks ago.alternatively you could use recuva (http://www.piriform.com/recuva). totally free (you can spend $30 to get some unnecessary dumb stuff, but it doesnt effect how many files it recovers) and you'll probably get somewhere around 90% of your files back.

1. All axe bots tend to havok alot when controlled by the player.1. Not really a lot, but sometimes yes.
2. Would like to see all replicas weight near 800.
3. Would like to see RW arena camera angles changed.
4. A few bots should have their skins look a bit cleaner.

Just played it and is absolutely brilliant however there are always criticism so I'll point out a few.
1. All axe bots tend to havok alot when controlled by the player.
You guys need to realize this is just a beta. Things won't be perfect.
Manta needs a bottom plate (more of a nitpick really) and Barrabis and either Alley Cat or Tiger crash the game

If you feel brave enough aswell I may be able to teach that person my method of creating custom meshes for the game... it still isnt perfect (hence the problem with Collision problems, The Revolutionist's shell shadows being 'strobe-y', ect. ect.) It's a new method and to my knowledge I think I'm one of the first to do it...I'm curious about your methodology but I definitely don't have time for fine-tuning another project.

Ah yes, I do remember Badnik mentioning the Mortis and Cassius 2 ones earlier, but I didn't know there was a Lightning one there as well. Curious!There was a directory called "lightning" and I decided to move the DSL2-TC lightningframe.txt to the components folder. Strange enough the right-side of it has an extra part of the frame but the other side doesn't.
Because that's the flipper.I've realized that but I just find it odd how it is part of the actual chassis. Probably because it's still a WIP model.

Although regarding HypnoDisc- the teeth have the same potency as they did in DSL 2.1, but it's the much better motor (A Tornado Mer Gearbox rather than a Flatmotor), along with how much bigger and more durable they are that makes them that much more powerful.Then that proves with a decent motor, the teeth are WAY too OP.
Firestorm's wedge could also be improved a bit. Currently, the top part doesn't even touch the ground, so it's very hard to get under opponents effectively.
Is there any chance you could get all the robots working for multiplayer as only a small amount of them actually work as it comes up with can only use robots with robot arena 2 stock ect?
Thats provided there is no cheatbot2 parts as pretty sure they also prevent online play

I will admit that components like Behemoth and Diotoir's scoops need some more HP, likewise. They break off pretty easily when you attack them with any semi-decent Spinner.

There's nothing to fix - it's just like any other version of RA2 :) What's the issue you've got?

When I installed this pack, however, all the robots in the list all seemed to be mixed up and don't seem to be in any order so it's confusing.

For the first part - they're alphabetical :P
It's the same as Stock RA2 - just replace the one you want as you would DSL. Order doesn't matter.
And yes, it is possible. I'm pretty sure that's in a tutorial somewhere, but I'll jot it here.

I've also made RA2 versions of the non real robots found in the AOD and ED games :) Just to fill up the spaces :P
I'll most likely post pics as I go along, however here's some of the things I have so far, or am hoping to achieve:
-Normal 13 teams, consisting of a lightweight and heavyweight robot based on those found in AOD and ED, and the 3rd HW spot taken up by a replica bot. There might also be a couple of extra teams for other bots, e.g. House Robots, Antweights, ect.
-A few more new arenas (i'm sure most of you have seen my work in my RW arena thread)
-New UI based on the RW Games
-Some new music has been done inspired on the games (Even replaced the hopp_club music with the results music from RW)
Basically I want to try and make an AI pack that is a cross between RA2 and the RW games :P
However I'll need a couple of helping hands :)
I'd like to ask GF and Ducky to help as they've been massive helps already :P
I'll need:
-Good UI'ers
-Some people to make good skins for the non-real RW robots
-Some good Arena/GMF creators (To turn my arena meshes into working arenas, Click's already working on the RW arena itself)
I'm mostly working on the replicas and robots themselves, and trying to organise as many things as possible :P
