There's promod for cod4, counterstrike,... why not one for Robot Arena 2?
I'm basically slowly working on a promod for Robot Arena 2. A couple main goals are to balance and remove components as well as create more efficient skins(kind of like what fotexp is doing) In addition to component balancing, useful attachment points will be added. I also plan on making AI that has levels sort of. For example team 1 is a beginners team, team 2 getting tougher, team 3 tougher... The bots that are tougher to beat will also demonstrate more advanced building techniques as you go up. Relating to things like chassis usage, stacking, weight usage... you name it!
Some things that have happened:
-Control Board weight = 1.0
-redbird and angle motors weight = 16.0 (power and consumption will be altered)
-zteck(hp) weight = 45.0 (made more powerful)
-shineywheel, mini wheel, rubber wheel, and slipper bottom are the wheels that will be kept in game. So far the shiney wheel has been given less traction and a weight of 10.0
-y connector and t connector both weigh 2.0
-chewblade and cheat components have been removed
-precision grid in botlab on robot's base
Some planned things for components:
-the sawblades will be given more damage
-Keeping all batteries and air tanks.
-2nd attachment point for the control board
-give square extenders more hitpoints (make them stronger)
Here is what a level 1, or maybe 2 considering it is invertable, lightweight bot

A song I am composing for the botlab!

sounds good?

Sounding very good
My only concern is whether anyone would actually use it, as it would no longer be stock :/
-
I will do it anyways just for myself and some friends. I will post and significant progress.
-
I like the idea of the team and also Team 1 could have SFTW and the last team could have God Mode
-
Sounds awesome :D
-
sounds cool. nice job!
-
Awesome.
An AI level as in like RA2GE (or whatever it was :P)?
Need any help from anyone?
-
maybe bot building and AI help would be nice
-
Why dont you get robots from other people as well for difficulty.
-
that's sort of what I meant.
Here is a rough draft of some UI work. (No where near final)

@Duck: You might want to restrict specific bot types to cretin levels, as I don't think a pop-up would be a good candidate for a level 1 bot.
-
Exactly, stuff like bad hammers and rammers. I might get some random person I know to build something. So then it is a real legitimate n00b bot

I can if you like
-
I can build and AI some lower level bots.
-
So then it is a real legitimate n00b bot
UMMMMM.......
I dont think it would be a good idea to include a bot like this:

Into your mod.

You do realize that a lot of newbies and/or people who get suckered into building a bot will usually build something like that, though.

From what I know, lots of newbies tend to start out with quite IRL realistic designs in Stock- a bit like the original AI, really.

I'm going at what goldfox is saying. Like a basic single spiked heavy weight, or a hammer bot...
-
Like bear or eye poker?
-
I'm going at what goldfox is saying. Like a basic single spiked heavy weight, or a hammer bot...
Precisely! Or a flipper with a bracket wedge, static pole spikes laid out in pairs with baseplate anchors...or for that matter, saws! :P
-
SFTW XD
-

The bots still have to seem legit, though.
Like a level 1 HW bot would pretty much be another DEADBEAT.
Large exposed wheels, weak drive motors, basic hammer weapon, etc, etc...
-
^^^ by legit you mean official, made by the devs looking, then yes!
So on deciding what bots make it in, I think I will have someone post there bot. But before posting, I really want it top quality. Don't use any textures from the botlab, make it a custom skin. Don't follow the example I showed for skin wise. I think some edgelines would be legit looking, just stay away from bloody drips and don't over use the darken or dirty whatever it is called. So when you post your bot, people will decide if it looks ready, and from there also begin to consider what team it could be on.
Once decided if the bot would make it, the maker gets to decide who AIs it.
EDIT:::: ahhh just realized I have to post the components folder so you guys know what to build with! I will post a zip any second
It is way to early to do that part, I need to finalize component stuff. You can come up with ideas though.
-
Maybe for levels 1 & 2 just use the stock AI?
-
How about a useless walker for Team 1?
-
Vertigo: If we are to change a lot of the game, I think totally new AI bots would be better.
RPJK: I am thinking that there should be rules in the game that requires every bot to have at least 2 wheels for drive. No crawlers

Yeah, your probably right there
-
Surely the bots will be pretty simple to make. For example the LW in the redzone has a piston and 4 wheel drive, no stacking or anything comlicated.
-
Yeah, haha, would hope I can build stuff a little more complex than that :P
-
of course
-
of course

AAAAAANYWAAAAAYS, as the bot difficuly gets higher so should the amount of glitches used.
-
I think I stated that already... but yes
-
*Has "OF COURSE!" as a decal*
I think I stated that already... but yes
Would that mean the very last bot is made with BFE?
Though it seems a little unfair, it would also be the hardest bot to defeat.
-
nonono make them street legal no bfe or hax mode

Say hecko to MEEEEEEEEE!
-
I now made another motor. It is called the z-tek extra high power. It has little green stripes instead of red and it is more powerful. Should I make an hp and extra hp for the redbird motor?
-
Would be pretty cool.
-
Yes, and the rad too.
Will the 140cm extender be here?
-
Will the 140cm extender be here?
If it is, the weight should be fixed.
-
I don't see why not. I also think reversed snapper 2's would be essential.

This

I think the components should be more balanced. So there'd be less razor spam and more originality.
-
Like give every weapon normals?
:trollface
-
Make everything as amazing as the stock sawblade
:trollface
