Title: Punch Out!! Ui

Hi there. I am working on a new UI for DSL. Based around Punch out.
I came up with the idea for this when I saw SKBT's rock'em sock'em tourney idea. It's been on the backburner for a while but now I have some time i'm actually getting somewhere with it.

It's still in early stages as you can see, but the one part you can't tell from the pictures is the new sounds which i'm putting in. Yes, the Punch Out title music plays when you start the game. And the fight theme plays when you're in the bot lab.

(Oh and I know that the Team HQ and Exhibiton buttons are swapped around in the screenshot, this has been rectified.)

To say i've hit a bit of a creative block with this is an understatement. But I made some new icons for when a robot is destroyed/eliminated. I've got a feeling that progress will be slow on this one. I won't touch the status meters as I tried and they looked horrible.

I have to say this is the most creative custom UI I have ever seen.  I would have never thought of it.  And it looks so authentic!  Great job.

For some reason I shoved 123ai into the copy of Ra2 I'm using for this.
He's not helping in any way and 123ai won't be part of the final download or anything.

My original plan was to re-do the rookies team and the extras with more of a boxing theme. I did consider a 15 team ai set but I don't think I would be able to come up with 60+ bots, let alone be bothered.
For now, have another screenshot. I know theres a bit more work to do on it. And the transparency is a bit of an issue. But i'm not sure I can do much about the latter.

Yep that would be my tourney idea. I'd put it up for the polls but I've got work and stuff IRL so there isn't enough time to run it. Also Joe never finished the arena for it but I can't blame him for dropping the project after I pulled out of the pollfor it and then took a break from GTM. :P

Yeah. It turns out F11 hates the main page of the botlab. And the loading icon
So I just went fcuk it and photoshopped the loading icon onto a screenshot.

And I put a new cursor tga in and it hasn't changed. Odd. And yes I did muck around with Atom Smasher.
Also. Does anyone have any experience mucking around with the wiring control panel and gibs in the bot lab? I want to change some bmps to tgas and so far all I have managed to do is to break it a few times. I am almost getting annoyed. Almost.

tl;dr F11 hates me. So does the cursor. And the gibs don't like me either.

Your not editing the cursor in the correct place..

You need to decompile RA2.cfz, edit the cursor in there, then recompile everything..

You can edit GIB's with Notepad.. changing file extensions is pretty straight forward, open the GIB's, find the file names you want and swap .bmp with .tga

@SKBT I never fully wrote off the idea of ai packs. I just stated that I would probably be unable to make 15 teams by myself.

Wow, Conraa, this is coming along beautifully. I just have  2 minor suggestions:

1) in the botlab, can you take the transparency away from the component selection menu?  It's a little hard to see the components
2) TKO is only used when a robot loses due to immobility.  A loss from destroyed control board or OOTA would be KO (I believe RA2 has seperate icons for "Destroyed" "Immobile" and "Eliminated")

Other than that, really great job, I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Fair enough. I was basing my definition of KO vs TKO on the way Mark Beiro called the Battlebots matches (and assumed an OOTA would be KO, because there is no OOTA zone in Battlebots.)

sorry about that, my vision was messed up when i read this the first time due to lack of sleep. but if u need anything else, fire away, since i'm actually getting used to component making & GIMP. (just generic parts and weapons with no normals.)

And i'll try and make a bit more headway on this one on Tuesday when I have time to work on it. I have to admit i've hit a few mental blocks on this one. But they are just minor hurdles.
