Gigafrost's Algoritms & Random Creations Showcase
« on: July 23, 2010, 08:43:46 AM »
Finally! Here is the place where I will basically post any ideas, sketches, formulas, code scripts, all the nine yards whenever I see fit. Been meaning to do this for a while but never had a chance to. But now I will from time to time post my formulas on the things I make. Feel free to respond or give some feedback to these posts. I will greatly appreciate it.

Fear Ratings

This is the algorithm for Fear Ratings. A very difficult algorithm but it will be essential for future ratings. Note that it is all in pseudo code as will be most of these.
Code: [Select]
Fear Rating Algorithm (Updated   July 23, 2010)
      -Gig
    --------------------------------
(note that the "he" statement refers to a unisex term not a male one)

    1>>Check member's  registration to gametechmods.

-If he is a new member, immediately go to step 2.

-Otherwise check posts made by the member since his sign up date.

-Search specifically whether or not the member has had any arguments in   the past or present.

-For a Fear rating, persuasion is required in a negative sense, unless   it is a Veteran, a Staff Member, or both. Search for "Troll phrases"   like "you idiot","you're stupid", "n00b", curse words, derogatory terms,   etc. aimed at a member.

-If attacked member responds in a flaming/defensive manner or if   attacked member is defended by more than 2 Normies or 1 Staff in this   way. End Algorithm and no Fear Points are awarded to attacker.

-If attacked member responds in an apologetic manner, respectful manner,   or if more than 2 members or 1 Staff assists the attacker in this way.   Go to step 3.

    2>>For a new member who joined www.gametechmods.com

-Set his Fear Rating to 0.

-End algorithm now unless member is a Normie.

-Otherwise check posts made by the member after 1 month.

-Check responses to that member's posts within that time.

-//For a Fear rating, persuasion is required in a negative sense, unless     it is a Veteran, a Staff Member, or both.// Search for "Troll phrases"   like "you idiot","you're stupid", "n00b", curse words, derogatory terms,   etc. aimed at a member.

-Check to see if attacked member responded to attacker, otherwise or if   attacker was ignored End Algorithm //No persuasion took place// UNLESS   member was silenced from spamming, which in that case continue to   calculate.

-If attacked member responds in a flaming/defensive manner or if   attacked member is defended by more than 2 Normies or 1 Staff in this   way. End Algorithm and no Fear Points are awarded to attacker.

-If attacked member responds in an apologetic manner, respectful manner,   stopped posting in a particular thread because of the attacker, or if   more than 2 members or 1 Staff assists the attacker in this way.   Go to step 3

3>>Assign points to attacker only, assistants do not get points.

-Calculate the total number of members that was successfully persuaded   in favor of the attacker (with and without assists).

-Divide that number by 10 then by 2.

-If remaining number is a whole number, add that number to his total   Fear Rating.

-Otherwise End Algorithm if number is less than 1. If it is greater than   1, replace the decimal place with 0 to make it a whole number and   assign points. DO NOT ROUND.

    -End Algorithm

sooo much complexity for just a rating

honestly we should be looking into more simplistic working out then more complex, just my thought

Oh, so next time I have trouble deciding whether to use a binary heap or varnish's b-heap I'll come to you for help.

Update hehe.

While waiting for my videos to upload... I've made some sound files! A bit random I must admit but I was playing around with audacity and made some robotic voices. I may possibly use them for something in the future, but feel free to play with em.

Here are some rough announcer clips.

Clickbeetle.wav:

Robot Announcer voice type goal: High-tech (Think Transformer)

I actually liked how this one turned out, being that clickbeetle is a three syllable name, I would think that the robot conversion would have a tad bit of trouble differentiating em so it won't just sound like noise.

ACAMS.wav (a little loud so turn down your volume a bit for this one):

Robot Announcer voice type goal: Judgement (Think a cyborg)

Another one that went out well, pronounciation may be a little off, so bear with me.

Madiaba.wav:

Robot Announcer voice type goal: Also High-Tech, but a little different (Need I say more?)

Another one that came out seemingly well IMO. Also apologies for incorrect pronunciation.

And last but not least, what's a robot voice good for other than for.... Beatboxing for the RIMP tournament!  :gawe:

RIMP.wav: The sounds you hear after you hear it say "rust in more peices" is supposed to be saying "RIMP, -Beatbox sound- RIMP RIMP RIMP, -Beatbox sound- ,RIMP... RIMP, ah you get the picture. This too may be a little loud.
