Title: Flying axle?
Post by: WhamettNuht on October 29, 2009, 05:25:36 PM
Hey All
I've been working on a new AW motor, but alas i've hit a brick wall.
Whenever i place the motor on the base of the chassis (not even attaching it, im still able to move it around) the axle flies around (like the dsl hinge after attaching 1 or 2 of them)
I've tried going to testing area to botlab, but it still happens (even when i go from test to botlab, it flies off straight away.)
Can anyone help me please, as this motor is all going towards a mini component pack im working on.
Thanks
-Wham

The axles fly off even before you attach it?

I dont know but maybe you should try pausing the game.

HEHEHEHE.......I know what is wrong!!

Why are you making a tiny little cheat motor? There is already an ant motor in DSL!!!

Using the Pause key on your key board, but I dobt that that will help either,
My quess is that its just too small. Try making it slightly bigger and see if there is any difference.

@ACAMS-Its not THAT small, its made from a redbird, and is based on a Solarbotics Gear Motor:
http://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Solarbotics_Geared_Motors_81.html
(Solarbotics GM11a 56:1 Mini Metal Gear Motor, same one that i use in my AW Little Patience)
Dunno why i am making it, i just fancied a challenge, since the only thing that i've been modding are ram plates and small wedges, i thought i'd have a go at a motor.
@SSG-Hmm, ok, i'll try making the axle a bit bigger.

OK.....your axle weight has to be AT LEAST 50% of the body weight, and sometimes with small motors even more, so decompile it and make the axle weigh more and recompile it.

I agree with ACAMS, to increase the mass (weight) of the axle.
If it still does it, there are a few other adjustments that might help.

I finally made the motor, it is a bit big, but i like it :) (so i should, my first motor!)
I'll post pics soon. (i've already made a few robots with my new components, so i'll showcase some of them aswell)
