123AI is finally here.

How to install

1.  Requires a clean version of DSL.
2.  Delete the folder AI and Music
3.  Unzip 123AI into DSL directory.  Overwrite any file when ask to do so.

Would this contain just your bots or other members bots?

Would this be ballanced to NAR AI components or DSL?

Will this be updated as bot building gets better or will this be a one and done AI pack?

I was thinking more of a showcase in bot type than anything.  So instead of searching for a VS, you can just open up team "Vertical Spinner".

I don't know about it being top notch, I don't really have that in mind.

I intended to build all of the teams.  I am not sure how to include community contribution without ending up with many many overlaps.

This is not intended to be a replacement of NAR AI in any way.  In fact, I will send all the bots here to NAR AI.

You see the thing is I am much more lazy than Naryar, so there's no way I will take on something as ambitious as he did.  Community mod is a lot of work, and I am the last person you would want to take over that.

I do hope someone will take over NAR AI if Naryar decided to stop working on it.  Of course, it will be best if he sticks around to do it himself.

I do like this idea about each team being a specific bot type. It would save a heck of a lot of time, I reckon.

Given your standard of building, I'm guessing most of the bots will be either very original, or very tricky to beat. If you need help with some stuff, I'd be happy to help out as well.

Lol this is harder than I thought.....  Some types are just not good at lower weight class, but I still need to build them somehow.

And without the NAR AI motor HP change the amount of usable weapon motors become quite limited.

How many people would care if I rebalance TWM and Perm 80's HP to the current NAR AI version?

why not redo them all with your formula's ?

but in the case you touch anything I disapprove of the name :P it will have the same issue NarAI did and everyone will start getting the too confused and try to submit custom robots to DSL tournaments.

so come up with another name should you modify anything so it doesnt sound like just an AI pack.

I don't think people want another re-balance mod, seeing as how NAR AI wasn't that popular after Naryar modded it.

Nope.  I will build all of them for the time being.  I don't want to complicate this anymore than it is for the initial release.

You be surprise to find out that building team is easier to manage than receiving teams, especially when the whole point of the mod is to be small and organized.

Current progress.

42 of 48 bots completed.

4 teams will be build by other players, they are

Naryar - Popup
Pwnator - HS
Ounce - Pusher
Urjak - Sheck Spinner

WreckTangle will be retained as the last bot in team 1.

Other things needed to be done include

1.  Build 6 more bots
2.  Finding a good AI for one of the teams
3.  UI
4.  Music

Why must they all be the "this pack, of DSL?" Why can't they just be bot packs, with no specific inspiration?

cant find it? neither can I...

its simply putting things into perspective by choosing something that achieved a similar goal for stock.



Back on topic..

You found a nice picture for the backdrop.. fits the DSL menu's well... kinda looks like it belongs in the space arena mod though :P

I don't see it simple at all. In fact, I can clearly see references to 123AI in it. Very clever, indeed.

My sister is studying (and works on) these kinds of things. She'd be proud of it ;)

If you're not making money off of the mod, you shouldn't have a problam with putting in whatever music you want to put in...
Just ask the artist/band for permission via E-mail or whatever...

Quite simply I'd look for some music via Spotify (look it up), and ask for permission from the bands to use it.

Lol don't worry.  I found a few soundtracks suitable for the theme, which to suit the rest of the UI, is somewhat mellow.  You won't die from hearing it once.

I won't use the above music because it makes no sense with the 123AI theme.

Well it's one of those build up thing.  You get a new UI, then you want a new music to match the new UI for a fuller experience.  Have the original music match the UI I won't touch it.

But since I already found the 3 musics that fit, now I just gotta wait for 2 more teams to come in.

You are right.  Looks like Ounce forgot that he put 2 space in between density and molecule.

You can fix this by going into the binding and add a space to it.  Or I will upload a new binding in a minute.

My CCIV entry has beaten every LW up til then though.

I am guessing you are using a flipper in an open arena?

The FBDs need a wider setup IMO, but it's good. Wedges are good even if F,H&P could get under them.

Did you install the UI?  If you did so properly all SHW should show up with a purple S.

Otherwise they will show up with the light weight icon because it simply doesn't have the icon for SHW.  It's only graphic and doesn't affect anything per say.

Edit:  Looks like I left out the icon myself.

Edit2:  Update patch uploaded for SHW to show up properly.

Question:  What's up with Star Dust having sledgehammers?  I remember earlier someone posted a battleshot against a Star Dust with sledges and you replied, "Ugh, no I would never put sledges on it."


Also, I don't get all these people saying they can beat all the AI already.  I have yet to find a bot that can do that.

Lol yeah weird isn't it.

Well the LW, and to some extend the MW, does not have anything in particular against flail SnS.  A lot of LW are kinna forced to meet the type requirements and so aren't really that great.  Now if someone claim to have beaten all the HW then it would be an achievement.

Still, I didn't think Flail SnS could have beaten the crawlers though, except maybe through WBP.

Hopefully the next update will include ram type specifically for de-weaponing flail SnS.

I never pay much attention to OOTA.  I don't even think of them as legitimate wins since they are map dependent.

Plans to update 123AI

Include 2 more HW to each team, Making a total of 6 bots per team.

Why HW?  Because I like building HW.

Might also include a few new teams.  At least 1 team focus on de-weaponing flails.

Not sure if Thwartoise would work as a LW.  Somehow I don't think it would.  It might be good as a DSL MW or HW though.

Sure of course.  I did ask you specifically.  Though I haven't seen Naryar or The Ounce building at all so I guess I won't see updates from them.

Haven't   figured that out yet.  Getting something MW to do the job was hard   enough.  Without dual heavy plows the only other options are NARmour and   de-weapon.  I haven't have too much success with NARmour either so I   see how de-weapon goes.

A de-weaponing rack on both sides is feasible on a MW. I'm still struggling to keep it down to a LW. D:

Was it a TRFBD though?
TBH I'd be surprised if no-one made one first because of how simple the design is.

Well it used the same system as TR but had additional drive motors on the disc's for faster movement..

but the class TRFBD is to vague.. could be anything with that kind of claim.. you can call robots by it now but you will never determine who did it first..

it's DSL. One of the hardest DSL packs out there though. I severely doubt you're ready for it.
