"Fixes" for the Stock RA2
« on: October 21, 2008, 06:03:27 PM »
theres 2 problems with stock RA2, which i know can be solved decently easily.

1. Snapper2 doesnt have a needed attachment point so you can reverse it.

2. Snapper II doesn't attach to extenders, even though it says it does in the description. (Easily attaches to either baseplate or extender (discovered by Radio F))

i know ACAMS had a fix for problem #1, but people didn't want it because of the control board attachment point thing. I'm pretty sure problem #2 can be solved too.

But now the question-

Would this still be considered stock to you guys? stuff that SHOULD be in there, but isn't, by accidental fault of the original programmer.

I vote yes, it should be considered stock. Some cool new bots could be made with this.
You got my vote for RA2 Wizard. Always and forever.

We have all played the same game for years with the same restrictions, why change it now?

For once the mods did something right

Keep in mind Sage that some people think about the term "Stock" for RA2 differently... I for one think of stock as being the dirt old original, official version of Ra2 with it's official patching from Infogrames. Anything that is an alteration from the original version (that isn't from the official staff) is considered either modified or custom IMO.

Depends. Would somebody without the fix be able to play against somebody who has the fix online? If not, than it is in no way stock.

i don't think it's stock anymore that way; it changes the style of bot building - even if it does ever so slightly - than of the original stone cold stock.

It's not stock - technically, a custom component.
