Hey cool, you named a bot after me. I haven't had a non-meme robot tribute before.
Oh I'll be doing some banging.......

That does look kickass, even if that extender skeleton seems overkill to me...

Thank you! And I agree, but I kind of like it for that. :P It's not a good battler anyway, it was mostly my practise robot for extender work.

-------------------

New robot time!

The scoops at the front and rear are made of flipper maker segments and run absolutely flush to the ground, without any of the wobbly instability of using flipper skirts and hinges. Really useful for pushing and fighting flippers and undercutters, and ensuring a successful hit when I ram opponents with those rear static hammers.

Also made use of a camo texture pattern for more of a "tank" feel.

EDIT: Added black strip decals where the hammer moves.

The side extenders are rather pointless, just seems odd to me. The back is held on by one extender which simply is not IRL, so this is now DSL-s with a artbot shoved into the mix. The back flipper makers not being connected is slightly oddas well. But altogether, i kind of like it. The spikes on the hammer look off though, but oh well.

the bot is still irl i would say, it still looks very cool and besides who would make an artbot in DSL-S avalanche (or should i say LRA2! >=) ) also i think those side extenders are there to prevent it being flipped sideways, kinda like how Mega-Morg did in robot wars if you ever saw that.

I'm gonna have to agree with Avalanche here; the side and back extenders are pretty messy looking to me, and that single extender holding all that back stuff does not look like it would work IRL at all. Honestly I'm not sure why you went for such an unusual chassis shape if you were just going to add that back section that far out - I would either remove that back stuff completely (save for the two wedge bits protecting the tracks), or switch to a chassis with a more square back end so you don't need that single extender looking so flimsy, everything coming from baseplate anchors.
I'd personally also remove the stuff from the top of the hammer to make that look a little cleaner, but I understand if you want that there for a little extra damage.

Ignoring the back stuff and those side extenders, however, it looks like a pretty good build to me.

This one isn't meant to be IRL, it's just standard haha. And the flipper makers on the sides and back are for assisting self righting, I tried to make them as discreet as I could, or at least not be obnoxiously out of place. The back being held on by one extender was unfortunately necessary for weight, but it DID leave the whole back end very vulnerable, hence the dark armour plating (hard to see in these images to be fair) underneath it.

Oh oops, I shouldn't have assumed you were going for IRL. Sorry. I'm not a standard expert by any means, but I'll try and fix my advice:
For a standard bot I think this is underweaponed, and really doesn't need the three hammers + whole assembly at the back taking weight that could be used for frontal offensive weapons.
Chassis seems fairly tight as it is, but I'm thinking a U shaped chassis would save weight, allowing you to tighten it around the components more.
For the hammer I think you'd be better off using a row of blades, or axes or something rather than the hammer with the additional spikes, since at the moment the hammer will get in the way of the spikes or visa versa.

Hmmm, well it IS slightly underweaponed I'll agree, but while it was built with Standard rules in mind I wanted the build to also look good, (somewhat artbot-like as Avalanche has pointed out) - which in my eyes, the rear scoop does. The large hammer was just my preference visually, plus it has much more HP than axe heads / spikes would, and is easier to repair.

Repairing is not a factor because we do tournaments via AIing bots then using exhibition, so dont factor it in. You could try using two hammers, running extender supports as well to them and doubling the damage.

Ah, interesting. Well in-game, it is a factor so i'll keep it like it is for now, and then if entered into a tournament I'll edit it first and update the thread to reflect that. Thanks for the info :)

--------------

Gonna try my hand at a, IRL horizontal spinner in a minute. First off, here's a Lightweight I built quickly using the same "scoop" method as the robot above:

Not something I invested much time into, I grant you, but hey, it works well enough even on a 20 Amp supply and can deal decent damage as a rammer or an SnS in a pinch. Best for maps with a pit / ledge to push other robot off though. I'll probably try a more serious LW in the near future though. I do like the look of it though.

Ok... need to get my hands on Ironforge as well.

DO EET!   :rage

I've seen your DSL showcase, you have insane talent in that mod. I'll be rather excited to see what you can do in Ironforge with those skills.

---------------

Anyway, I built a thing. A spinning thing of the horizontal persuasion.

Middleweight at 196.5 kg, plus one ballast because Blackbird motors and a Perm 80 weapon motor are overkill for instability when your robot weighs under 200. :P

I also ensured there were no intersecting or stacked parts, so... does this class as IRL? I'm a little wary of that bit of the Perm 80 motor sticking out of the top but it's unavoidable unless I redo the entire robot to raise the chassis (which I'm not doing).

New Robot Time! This is an IRL bot too, I've been careful with avoiding intersecting parts. Yay!

Couldn't get it QUITE right, and it changed objectives half way through construction. It was originally planned to be a Razor-style crusher (but faster, for obvious in-game restriction reasons), but when I couldn't get it right I went for a more animalistic approach. Would have build the stinger further back but for the rule of 7 (which pissed me off about seventy times this build)...

Thought I'd have a hand at another animalistic design. SO... from scorpion to dragon...

Couldn't get it down to under 400 kg (even with 1mm Plastic it was sitting above 420), but that didn't really matter to me since this one is
REALLY not designed for winning tournaments, just as an artbot that can drive well (which it can, surprisingly enough).

Wanted to put a flamethrower / ice thrower in or behind the mouth for a firebreathing effect, but there wasn't room without it being obnoxiously on view. Ah well, maybe I'll make a bigger one and try again at a later date. Also couldn't hide the wheels anywhere with it actually still being driveable and looking decent, so I left 'em.

I'm fairly happy with how it turned out, but I prefer Arachnoid overall.
