[Question] How to make the Robot Move.
« on: April 14, 2011, 12:57:41 AM »
So, I've finally created a robot with the proper amount of batteries, weaponry, AI chip, etc etc. I'm thinking I'll call it Mr. Plow.

Now I've got one problem left; for the life of me i can't figure out what I'm supposed to do to make it move, I'm certain it is mobile, since its wheel's are attached to piglet molters, and holding the contraption up. Anyone have any idea what I'm missing?

Seriously??

Click what motor/snapper/thing you want to set it to. Then follow what it says on the screen. That's as best as I can explain it.

Wait, what am I setting it to?

The wheels are attached to the motors already.

Next step is wiring them up.   Click on the "controller programming" tab.  there are three icons right above the graphic that looks like a remote controller.  the third one is 'analog' drag that down into a slot on the 'remote'.  like so...

Double click on your new control and you'll get something like this (figure 1)

click the box where it says 'positive axis' and hit whatever control you want to be your forward. On negative, whatever you want to be backwards. then click 'ok'.

On your bot, click the drive motor on the right side, and figure 2 will pop up.  set it up like I have it.  Then, click the motor on the other side of your bot and do the same thing, only this time, reverse clock and counterclock.  Test your bot and you'll be able to go forward and backwards.

Make a new analog, set this one for your left and right.  When you program the motors, set them the same way (clock and counter is the same axis on both motors).  Now you can turn.

Hope that helps.

To get from figure one to figure two, just click the motor you want to program.
I... I think I've quit. Lurking and posting where I feel it's needed from time to time. I was never particularly good, but I tried. Never really succeeding, but trying all the same.
This is what I spend my time on now

How about turning? My robot performs pitifully moving in an up/down line.

repeat the steps with a new analog, but this time, program both sides motors the same way (clockwise for positive and counterclockwise for negative on each motor) That'll get you turning.

Yes, they are attached to piglet motors; Am I doing it wrong or something?

Piglet motors arent really meant to be drive motors.
Try something like NPC's or those twm6735429783-whatevers

Right, I'll keep that in mind for my next bot.

I actually enjoyed it once I actually got the design to move, and now that I've created one with as little help as I could manage to get by with, I'm likely to probably have a spammish explosion of bots in the near future, some good, some completely useless, but mostly for the luls.

If Image shack ever loads, I'll show yall what I made, I like it, even though its prolly crud; but at least its realistic and not glitchy.

Use the GTM image host?
Better than GK since 2009.
I think SM is a pretty cool guy, eh builds unicycle-bots and doesn't afraid of anything

I forgot we even had an uploader.

https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?action-downloads;sa=downfile&id=7

Does this mean I'll stop getting PM's about bots now?

EDIT: Apparently its not an 'image'

DOUBLE EDIT: No...there is nothing there....*mumbles to self and goes to fix it.*

It was designed like that since I found it flipped easily in battles with bots that used flippers.

I'll just give you a quick guide that I use in my head when I build bots:

Forward/Backward:
Left hand motors: Counterclockwise, clockwise
Right hand motors: Clockwise, counterclockwise

Left/Right
all motors: Clockwise, counterclockwise

For once the mods did something right

Yeah, I  figured that out while building my bot and wrote it down already ^^ Thanks for the quick foot notes on it though.

After I build some more bots I'll probably put a showcase together.

Yeah, thats probably the only thing it has going for it, otherwise I somewhat doubt its combat potential.
