Mods bot transfer thing.
« on: October 18, 2014, 01:35:50 PM »
I've been experimenting a bit, and I copied the components folder from DSL RW into normal DSL. Then I've tried to get AI bots from the DSL RW mod on normal DSL. It wasn't a total failure(the game doesn't crash) but there are still issues. Razor's claw is hanging out the back, pushing the rear wheels off the ground. And wheely big cheese attacks with it's rear end. Plz help.

You failed your Bindings.py transfer and probably some components are not the same.

I copied the bindings for each induvidual bot from the DSL RW folder. I also copied the components folder and pasted it on top of the normal DSL components folder.

There's more than likely clashes between the DSL and RW Razer and WBC - sounds like a components clash for Razer and a bindings clash for WBC.
For example, if you've still got the DSL WBC bindings in the file with the new one, whichever the game finds first will be used for both bots, regardless of how (or what way round) they're built.
With Razer it could be edited components using the same name. The claw's attachment point could've changed for example to beach it like that.

When I pasted the bindings and components, I set it to replace any components with the same name. I've just checked the razer components file, and everything has a different name. The claw is still attached to the motor, would their be a way to chance where the motor started and finished for the specific bot? No idea what's wrong with WBC and thermedore, I tried swiching controls round and everything and there's no difference. Do you know if this has been done before, because if it has could you point me to the discussion plz. Thx 4 trying.

Razer no idea. But the other 2 are probably what I said about bindings - if they start facing backwards, it's because they were built backwards and the 'nose' value in the bindings has to be changed.

I don't really have any idea what you've actually done in terms of putting the bots 'into' DSL (did you overwrite all the DSL AI?) so it's kinda hard to help.
It could be that the RW mod you're using is, I assume, Wham's, and he's fixed the wheel issue from DSL2.1 so you'd have to rewire the drive controls (i don't mean just flipping the buttons, like actually flipping the clock/anticlock instructions).

I did flip the clock and anticlock on each bot and then exported, without any difference. What I mean by getting the bot into DSL is copying it's bindings from the RW AI folder, and replacing the DSL version of the bots' AI with RW version of the bots' AI. Is wham's the one with DSL 3 components and a dominaotr 2 that can't self-right?
