I've just read the BOTM of January 2013 and.... RA2 HAS CANNONS?! Holy crap, my dream came true even before dreaming about it.
I would like to try the cannons out and according to the BOTM, DSL has it too. But I can't find it even after activating the cheatbot2. Did I miss or misread something?

cheatbot2 as the bot name, then look under the power tab. Done!

they're custom cannons. the normal cannon is big and unwieldy.

All components I have with cheatbot2 activated are these:

The only new things I get in this section are:
-1 bigger hovercraft
-The rage motor
I looked for the cannon in the additional available selections of each motor but no luck

Rage motor? I've never had that with 'cheatbot2' of Stock, I only ever get the board and one or two other things.

Are you using NarAI? I'm pretty sure the ragemotor isn't standard dsl.

Yeah, he's using NarAI. Use normal DSL and you'll see it.

That's because I'm trying to find the cannon in DSL, not stock.

There's your problem, then. I'm using vanilla dsl and i'm finding it there. But if you like I can bundle up the cannon files and send them to you.

Well, I was going to redownload the DSL 2.1 and make a 3rd RA2 version just to see the cannon. Unfortunately the link of DSL download is broken.
If it's possible to make the cannon available with Nar Ai 2.7 I would really appreciate it, m8

The issue has been solved! Conraaa gave me the needed files for the cannon and it works perfectly. Time for some target practice :mrgreen:

True, but it looks like there's a pattern in that inconsistency. I made a simple 4 WD car with a cannon and in the test garage the cannon fired flawlessly while stationary but failed every time while moving around. In the arenas the cannon failed all shots, both stationary and moving stances. But if the bot got flipped over, all of the sudden the cannon could fire perfectly.
I suspected it was something with the wheels so I made a flying bot. In the test garage it seemed like there was a random chance of a successful shot. In the arena however somehow, when fighting light weights and medium weights, or perhaps low bots in general, the cannon had about 80% success. But if i fought HWs or tall bots in general, because they interfere with the hover pads, changing the height at which the bot flies, I got a surprising drop of only about 15% or 10% successful shots

The problem, as you already pointed out, is that "enemy bots" affects rather shots fire or fall. So there's nothing you can do to your bot to make it consistent.

What about having magnets and pushing the cannon ball as it is fired?That way it has power to fly even if it fails to fire.

Nope, Gauss cannons have been tried. I'm pretty sure it works, and i'm pretty sure there's an old Stock showcase with cannons + magnets.
