Trouble Moddin'

Hi i saw the robot wars AI pack recently and installed it. I replaced the files in my robot arena 2 with those (the ones that would be replaced anyway) and i didnt have trouble with it. but then someone said you could use the AI by placing them in your robot design folder so i did that ( renamed each robot so that it wouldn't replace any) and now i can play them. There is just one issue with this. if i for example wanted to do robot rumble or something like that (something with more than one AI) robot arena would just stop responding and immediately crash. I am running windows 8.1 i believe and yes i am on full screen. Post for any info or if you want to know more about the situation (ill try to give more info if  i can)

Does the AI work in other situations? Does loading the bots for your own use work in other situations? If yes to both, it could be just RA2 crashing as it does.

HI craaig! Uh AI works in slot 2 only. any other and it just crashes. I cant use team one but tha twas just be messing it up. All of the bots work for me fine the real issue is using the other AI slots because i can use all the AI bots just not in any slot except slot 2.

So you're using Wham's Robot Wars AI pack for DSL 3, right? Are you only trying to use the replica robots, or the other AI robots?
Your problem might be that the AI robots in slot 0 and 1 are just placeholder AI, and will crash the game because they don't have the right components to work.

Are you absolutely sure you didn't change anything you shouldn't have?  This kind of problem can't have been cause just by copying some bot files.

Since you're new I recommend the most basic solution- replace your entire AI folder with a clean one form the zip file of Wham's AI pack.

If you feel like doing an experiment and youve got time to kill,
go to your corrupted AI folder and check each "Teamx" folder.  Each one should have  six files called bot0 through bot5.  My guess is that one of them's missing or has the wrong name.

I had this problem ages ago too.

sonny my AI works fine i just cant use more than one AI other than that it pretty much fine. and also i dont have DSL convertion. Everything works fine before i tried to use the AI bots in the robot designs.
i replaced all the AI bots anyway so it should work fine.

Do this:
1) get a fresh version of DSL2.1
2) Copy Wham's RW pack content over the fresh DSL2.1
3) Check and see if that works.
DSL 2 is available in the Downloads section in case you didn't know. If you have any more trouble, pm me or post on here.

Jaydee, I'm 99% sure Wham's Robot Wars AI pack needs to be installed over DSL3, not DSL2.1
A fresh install is still a good idea, but here are the proper instructions:
First install a fresh, Stock RA2: https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=4
Then install DSL 3 from here over Stock: http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/files/DSL3beta1.rar
Then install Wham's AI pack over that.
