Title: SKBT needs help...
Post by: SKBT on September 04, 2011, 09:39:52 PM
My brother was playing DSL today and wanted to use the Wheely Big Cheese wheel as a weapon because it was spikey. He promptly discovered that it did no damage. Now before I go and mess around with the txt file for it I have a couple of questions...

1.Can a rubber based component do damage when given the proper lines in the file? (piercing and concussion)

2.Will adding the "piercing and concussion" lines interfere with the "grip"

I'd look at the txt file of the traffic cone in fb's component pack.

If I recall right yes one can. In FB's component pack there's a rubber cone in there that did lots of damage yet was bouncy and did not seem to be able to take damage from the arena things like floor walls ect.

The traffic cone is a weapon though; piercing and concussion won't work on a wheel (in fact I think the WBC wheel already has piercing and concussion).  You need to give it material = metal(somevalue>0) to make a wheel do damage.  The only drawback is that the wheel will no longer be "rubber" and will take damage from hitting the wall and floor.  Grip will be unaffected.

couldn't you just replace WBC wheel's GMF with the traffic cones? (ie, so it does damage in schtuff)

wat

You mean replace the txt?  If you did that it would no longer work as a wheel... there are two options here: Make it rubber and do damage but not work as a wheel, or make it do damage and work as a wheel but not be rubber.

Try looking at mwheel.txt in Firebeetle's component pack.
