Title: Question in Regards to Chassis Shape Editing
Post by: HarleysCupboard on April 29, 2018, 01:55:35 PM
Apologies first off if this has been asked before, but I've basically ran into an issue when designing chassis, it cannot make a particular shape where the bottom half is vertical and then it goes into a diagonal section like so:

Really basic photo to show what I mean

Real world example is like here on the sides of Lucky where by the wheels it's a vertical side and then above the wheels it goes off at an angle:

Is there any way I can edit the file outside of RA2 (DSL 2.2 to be precise) or create a shape like this that isn't making it out of extender panels? I've seen a few people do builds with this sort of geometry but I'm not sure what the best way to go about this is, any help is much appreciated!

I don't think there is a way on how you can do this by editing this in the bot file. Though if you don't want to use extenders to build that shape, you can use an external program known as OBJRA2, which allows to turn 3D models in the OBJ file setting, into a workable chassis if you want something that's a bit like Lucky's. Just remember that the file needs to have at least needs one triangle face in order to work.
Note: Looks like you beaten me to the punch Pwnator.

Ey someone showed my tutorial lol.
Use badnik's, its better
Okay, you dont need OBJ bots, you can BFE the bot, but its hard as hell to do and tbh, obj is just much easier.

Any recommended program substitutes? The one Badnik used costs like a grand and I'd rather not drop that much coin

Sketchup is free, but you cant edit it for skinnimg, so you get simple coloured bots (free version im talking about is network one iirc)
