hey guys, i know there are a million posts here, but i have not found anything that has solved my issues. im very new to this rb2 stuff. my issues.... when im building a bot it takes me an hour just to get get wheels to line up and actually go on. is that just part of the game? and when i want to remove a part or set wiring i have to click 20 to 30 times to get it to take. and when i try to start a gamespy game it will open my game and then tell me the exe has stopped working. i purchased the game from trymedia so i do not have the cd. im sorry if my answers are elsewhere in the forum but its a pain to search every help link.
-
Well welcome to GTM!:D Does the wheels thing mean that you cant get the motors lined up,because otherwise, you gots a glitchy game brah.
-
i feel like i have to hold my mouth just right and barely move the mouse and part over the motor for it to work. haha. in robot arena 1 you could just about just throw the part on to the bot and it would line itself up. and its not just wheels i struggle with. extenders and everything except things i put on the base
-
thats because it is a good game
RA1 was a totaly different game. In this it's different because you have total customization, witch is a good thing
don't feel pressurd, you'll get the hang of it
-
and just incase it matters, i run it with vista. run as admin,in compat. with service pack 2. and i did run a patch from the site. i deleted ui folder and replaced it. then ran patch. im not interested in getting all crazy with the new improved weapons you fellas have created. i just want to get things working so my buddies can connect on game spy
-
put a pick of the problem up and I'll see what you mean

we are looking for something different to try. check us out at 2fastracing.net we are an online sim racing team that runs dirt latemodels. but everynow and then we get bored and need a little aggression released. with us all being gear heads i thin ra2 is right up our alley lol

i dont think i could get a picture of any problems. it would almost need to be a vid. but if someone has xfire, they can add me and chat that way. screen name cmartin7x . and do any of you guys use ventrillo ? its a voice chat software that we talk on during our events. it makes things a lot easier..and its free lol

Are you running an Nvidia card on your computer? The game does not like that chipset very much. It runs better on ATI Radeon cards... Also, did you download and run the game patch?
-
intel gma 3100 is what it says im using. if i looked in the right place. but im not that good with computers. and i did download and run a patch that is on the rb2 site
-
my buddy ran that patch and it turned his whole game screen grey and now he cant play. he is too much of a tight wad. and im all out of key codes for the game lol

Ahhh... I believe that is your problem. The intel GMA is an on board graphics controller. RA2 really works best with an ATI Radeon Graphics card. If you have a desktop computer I would recommend getting a Radeon. If you are running it on a laptop, then I think you might be out of luck. On board graphic chipsets like the Intel GMA are not widely supported by a lot of games. RA2 is kinda old... and also not supported by Atari anymore, so they wont come out with any updates or patches to make the game support that Intel chipset.
-
i am on a desktop, and thank you. from what i hear installing a card is just kinda plug and play. i think i can handle that . can you fellas give me some pointers on how to connect to my guys online to play? i have tried gamespy. just not sure if i am supposed to have my game open then go to spy. or let spy open the game for me. and is there an easier way to connect? or is spy the way to go?
-

You did the 1.3 patch for the download version?
i just want to get things working so my buddies can connect on game spy
DO NOT, DO NOT USE GAMESPY.....it is slow laggy and useless. Use the in game connect (one of you make the game and the rest join) or get hamachi and make a server.
As for your problem putting components on, try uninstalling and reinstalling and then MAKE SURE you 1.3 patch with the download version as per instructions EXACTLY!
-
yes i did the patch, correctly i assume. and i have tried to create a game but for some reason no games will show up to my buddies. and when they try to create, i cant see any games
-
and i did download and run a patch that is on the rb2 site
THERE IS YOUR PROBLEM!!!!
Don't get the one from the rb2 site....Use this one.. https://gametechmods.com/Robot_Arena2/Patches/nvidia_fix_dl_version.rar (https://gametechmods.com/Robot_Arena2/Patches/nvidia_fix_dl_version.rar)
AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS JUST LIKE THEY SAY!!
-
i checked. that is the one i got. sorry i must have just got the link for this site from the ra2 site. but yes i have the correct patch and i reread the instal instructions and i did that correctly
-
and i just wanna say thanks for all your guys help. i thought this game would be dead and noone would care enough to help . lol i wonder why no games can be found when one is created ingame
dont mind me im just a retard

If you have a cable modem and a wireless router then you are being firewalled by your router....it can only make it through one.
Sometimes it is necessary to have a static IP address to host a game. onle one of you may be ABLE to host....or none!
-
will port forwarding help us connect to one another? this gamespy and firewalls are kicking my butt
-
Gamespy sucks, don't even try.

im about ready to throw this game and computer out the dang window lol. still trying with spy, we have a guy with his ports forwarded, he hosts. it opens everyones game. it send him to his staging area to pick a bot. it send the rest of us to the front screen like we are not even connected to his game
-
DO NOT USE GAME SPY..........IT SUCKS!!!
DO NOT USE GAME SPY..........IT SUCKS!!!

-
Yup, it was deleted. You should check out the online server thread in the tournament section to find servers to join.
