Noobish questions,
« on: March 17, 2011, 11:06:48 PM »
Well, I'm still pretty new to the forum's level of building. Which means if I build something, It would probably look like a SFTW. Like this:

So yes, I want t ask some questions.
A. How do you change the joint for a part? Like changing from one joint of the RedBird to the back joint.
B. Do you have any tips on buildin HS and VS in stock?
C. Is there an arena creation program which can make the arenas for RA2?

E. I've seen some robots which have overlaid parts (Badnik's Arcade ect.), How do you do this? And is it even legal?

Sparkey, I don't think you understand fully. People can build whatever they want in Stock. DSL was designed to be a mod for realism, and as such, there is a "Realistic Rule", which is a series of regulations designed to maintain the realism by making certain things illegal, such as overlapping components that could not normally have a slot cut in them in real life, such as wheels, motors and batteries. You're also not allowed to completely cut an extender in half, because it would just fall apart in real life. Unrealistic building in DSL isn't illegal as such, but it is frowned upon somewhat, and it's generally not allowed in DSL tournaments. But that doesn't stop you making a tiny chassis and mounting everything else externally.

You can build however you damn well want, if it's creative, or skillfull, you'll get possitive recognition for it, as long as you say it's unrealistic dsl or whatever, the only bots you shouldn't build are really crap ones XD

But even then you can get away with that if it is Star Wars Holiday Special crap, i.e., so inconceivably bad that it has inadvertently returned into being awesome.
