Hey
I'm a little confused about flipper weapons. So far the only burst motors i have been able to use with any success as a flipper were the large JX motor and the beta motor. but the JX doesn't really get opponents off the ground and the beta seems to create havoc explosions when used as a srimech.
However i noticed that a lot of the AI/prebuilt bots have smart zones - is this anything to do with it?
i tried using smart zones and it didn't make a whole load of difference - can anyone explain to me what smart zones actually do and how to use them? i can't seem to find an explanation anywhere.

Smartzones are used for AI'ing bots with Burst motors/Burst Pistons. Basically, if a bot enters the smartzone, the weapon will fire if the robot has been AI'ed correctly.
About your robot problem, post a picture of the bots and I'll take a look.

o hai thar
All of the burst motors can flip opponents. It's just that some motors are better used in certain weight classes. A single BSG when used on LWs and MWs work wonders when paired with another weapon system. Pure flippers usually have 2 BSGs on a LW, 2 small/large JXs on MWs, and a beta on HWs. Using a single BSG on a HW will get you nowhere. Also, make sure your motors are adequately powered to ensure full flipping force, otherwise the weight spent to get that motor is wasted. :D
As for the Havok-y beta, you're probably using a geared beta. Use the other version since that one's more reliable.

Did you powered correctly your motors ? AKA enough batteries.
I suggest you go on the wiki and lurk. Plenty of useful general information there.
The beta geared works havok-less with Fren- *gets interrupted by Joeblo raving about THZ.py*

use whatever you want, I dont care.
but there is no shame in me self promoting a better python ? just look at IRL videos to see how Frenzy is massively flawed.

What made you think I was complaining ?

I'm using the spring-loaded beta which seems to work fine - the geared beta motor seems pretty useless for flippers.
I'm using plenty of batteries to get the maximum power out of the spring-loaded beta - the problem only occurs sometimes when used as a self-righter, and it's happened on a lot of bots that i've built (i keep creating and deleting a lot of different bots while i'm experimenting with things)

nothing.. what made you think I was thinking that :P

Ah, screw it. Back on topic now :P
Robovore, you should make a showcase. It would be easier with pics.
