Post by: Dragonfire on June 01, 2008, 08:58:50 AM
First of all this is what me and my friend have:
Same:
- RA2 version
- Gamespy version
Different
- I have Windows XP, he has Windows Vista

Everything works ok when we join each other's games etc. but when we actually launch the game, my game continues as normal, but his has this error message:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
There was an error that prevented the game from being launched. Check to make sure the game is properly installed and that the path is correct.

Help!

go here. (https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/list.asp)

download the first link. tell you friend to do the same. one of you make a room. tell you friend the name and password. leave it running. go to RA2 multiplayer. setup a game. have your friend look under LOCAL games. make sure its local.

i think there is the same lag except for the host, who gets less usually.

Actually nobody in their right mind installs gamespy or any other program to play RA2 online as it is not needed.....just go to multiplayer and create a game for your friends to join!

That doesn't work for me; because the game doesn't show up on my friend's multiplayer list, and vice versa.

You are firewalled by your router/modem. You need to only have 2 jumps or you can not create a game. If you have a modem and it is not bridged the it determines your IP address, so your comp goes to your modem (usually 192.168.1.1) (one hop) then to your modem and it configures your IP address and if you have a multiport hub, or wireless router then it gives it a third making it impossible for you to host and sometimes even join. Call your ISP and ask them how to bridge your modem and remove any other hubs or routers to play RA2 online.

Or you can just continue to use Hamachi....
