Limit on extenders attached to one part
« on: March 18, 2009, 09:38:42 AM »
Is this normal? For some reason every time I get to six or so items/extenders on the end of a baseplate anchor or something it won't let me attach anything else. Is there any fix to that... or is it some flaw in the game everyone has?

AAM does NOT work.....you need to edit the bot file with notepad++ to add extra components.

I'm going to answer all questions, directly.

The way to fix it is to add components in the .bot file using notepad++ (like ACAMS said)

AAM is alternate attachment method. (ACAMS, I think attaching something using notepad is an alternate attachment method, is it not?)

Lurk is going through the forum without asking questions, not saying anything, and learning silently. I find it to be an ineffective thing that was made just so veterans and people don't have to answer so many questions. It's hard to find answers sometimes, so i think people should just ask.

I was a lurker, and from my experience, I started off at a higher level of bot building skill than someone like Hydro (sorry Hydro, you're just too good of an example) who just buys the game and joins the forums. Of course, I had been looking at RA2 for about three years before I finally bought it, so I must agree with Sage, it's pretty ineffective.

According to Venko's showcase, AAM is when you temporarily replace the files for one component with another one and then switch them back, in order to put parts where normally they wouldn't fit. It seems like far too much work just to stack motors to me, but whatever.

AAM= Advanced Attachment Method from back in the old days....you young guy's may want to update it to "alternate attachment method" to include bot file editing, but I will always consider it to be "Advanced Attachment Method" which is different from bot file editing with notepad++.

Aceuplink guy's AAMed their Tournament bots and I am 100% convinced Carp104 text edited his tournament bot to beat my spinner, because the game was VERY laggy and crashed several times before we could finish.....and we were supposed to have a host, but it was Carp hosting because I saw his custom arena right before the game crashed........which has had me pissssssed ever since.......so don't cheat in tournaments!!!

I see what lurk means, now... Condor, you're right, people should just answer questions -.-

"Oh, I could tell you, but I don't feel like it, even though I'm already here, I'll just call you a noob and force you to find out the answer yourself, which I'm not doing anything to help you, I just like watching you squirm."
