i know RA2 isn't the most stable game but I can't play 2 matches in a row in ironforge without it CTDing. Doesn't happen as much in the bot lab, but does occasionally, especially on wiring.
tried messing with resolution and quality with no effect. I can't think of anything else.
i have no idea what's specifically causing this. It mainly seems to crash when i select AI bots to fight against. Any help?
this is my bs crash message

It's seems to happen when 2 bots hit extremely hard in the matches
-
Run it in fullscreen
-
it still crashes in fullscreen, I've tried that too
so there's no fix then? how can anyone film a tourney with this mess
-
Due to the lighter components and the stronger motors the physics engine doesn't like ironforge. It's the one flaw of the game mode really.
-
ughhhh
at least the bot lab works fine i guess
filming a tourney with this is going to be a nightmare though
-
Believe me, it was, for both RIP4 and Botallica. Just kinda have to deal with it unfortunately D:

Wish me luck :P

lol i seriously cannot make it through a match fighting house of stars without it crashing
-
Yeah, any hard hit can potentially crash it. It seems to be worst in the Combat Zone.
-
wiring is prolly because you're in windowed mode, it happens to me all the time

I noticed that too.
It's really hard to make my videos with these crashes, I have reboot the game 4 or 5 times before having decent footage of 1 battle.
I never posted about this issue because my Ironforge version is filled with DSL3 components so I figured the crashes might come from that. This thread however proves me wrong.

If it's any consolation I've had no problems running and recording Ironforge. Does this only happen when you record? What hardware and OS are you all running?
-
i haven't recorded anything yet
Windows 7, use some AMD radeon GPU which I assume would go above and beyond the capabilities of RA2

It happens to me even if I'm not recording.
I noticed however RA2 Stock/DSL/Ironforge while recording, tends to become less stable with every battle I do and ultimately crashes eventually but It's not as annoying as Ironforge's consistent crashes.
Running Win7 and using Fraps
CPU:Intel Pentium E5700 Dual core (Yeah pretty old CPU, looking for a new one)
Motherboard:G41M-P43 Combo
RAM: 4GB
GPU:Nvidia Geforce GT640

It really depends on the bots you are using, like none of the Iron Whispers bots really hit hard enough to crash since there wasn't that many crazy-ass spinners.
-
it does seem a BIT more stable with XP compatibility mode and fullscreen but it still crashes a bunch
especially with HWs because I guess they send parts flying harder
-
If I drop the speed of spin motors I can get it more stable, but things will start hitting like kittens.
Let me know if you guys want me to drop the speed.
-
i think we'll need some more testing before any rebalancing
I'm not even sure high KE hits are what's causing it
-
Actually, yeah it is. Lowering speed definitely makes the game more stable.
Here's a speed reduction patch. All spin motor slowed by 10%, burst piston max speed reduced. Game is a lot more stable. Try it and let me know if it still crash.

It appears more stable, I'll have to do some more matches before I can be sure though
thanks either way
