Installation help?
« on: February 27, 2015, 08:28:13 AM »
Hello everyone!

I'm new to the forums; I used to play RA2 a LOT a couple of years ago, but just now, I am getting back.
My first question is; will the game run in Windows 7? What about Windows 8??
On the other hand, I just read some tutorials on this same forum regarding RA2 Stock and DSL and I am quite confused, and started to think that some explanations or versions of the downloads are outdated. Could somebody please explain to me, what to install and in what order? If you could provide the link to the correct version of the things I need to download, it would be greatly appreciated :).

Also, once everything is installed and working, is there any "mega pack" containing extra parts, components & stuff or do I need to download each thing individually?

Thank you very much!! And I apologize for not being able to do this by myself with the links on the stick'd posts, it feels and works in a complicated way for me :).

Regards,

Hi there :)

1) The game will run in 7 and 8 adequately (most of us run it as so :P)
2) There are different versions of the game. Stock (regular RA2), DSL and Ironforge are the 3 major currently available mods, all played in different ways. As long as you have WinRAR/7zip/something similar installed, all these are available in a completely ready-to-go (after extract) form  here.
3) I don't know a lot about custom components - they're generally a no-go for competitive, but I know there's a few packs on the BeetleBros site.

Hopefully that answers your questions :)

Awesome!! Thank you very very much for your quick reply; that's all I needed to know, plus every link for everything is clearly specified in the link you sent.
