Post by: Dexterhunter on May 17, 2009, 08:00:34 PM
Step 1: Open Microsoft paint, and click the File button. Then click the Open button. (Or just press Ctrl+O once you open up Microsoft paint)

Step 2: Find your desired image, and double click it to open it.

The rest of the tutorial is down till I decent to update it.

You should tell them to click "Save As" and choose something other than a bmp.

In Photoshop you can have more complicated cutting areas easily.

Also the magic wand.

And I've had a lot of times in Paint where I couldn't continue a crop because the picture was too big for the screen.

Paint is so much easier to use... and enough for RA2 screenshots.

I personally do it like you, but at Step 3 i cut the highlighted part (Ctrl X), then open a new document (generally the dimensions are really small), paste the part in it (dimensions grow to the highlighted part's ones), then save it as a png.

This is exactly how I do it too, I do have Gimp, but it takes so long to load that I only use it if I need to crop like 10 pictures, since it and all other more advanced editing programs have the crop tool. Just select the area you want with it and press enter and the picture is cropped.

I highlight, then go to edit and hit "crop." No dragging needed.
