i downloaded the game yesterday and i wont to put some new arenas in it can somone help me step by step i thank you
-
It depends on how the arena was compressed.
(Edit: Be sure to make a backup before proceeding)
Here is a rough guide for the most common methods of installing arenas:
- Download the arena that you want to install (you can find a bunch here (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?page=page123))
- If the file has ".exe" as the extension:
- Run the file.
- Go through the installation program as you normally would. When prompted, give the path to RA2's root directory (the directory with "Robot Arena.exe" in it).
- If the file has ".zip" as the extension:
- Open the file.
- If there is a readme, read that before proceeding.
- If one of the directories listed is "Arenas" then copy and paste all the files that you are looking at into RA2's root directory (the directory with "Robot Arena.exe" in it).
- Else if one of the directories is "Program Files", "Infogrames", or "Robot Arena 2" then go into it and go back two steps in this guide.
- Otherwise, copy and paste all the files that you see into the "Arenas" folder (found in RA2's root directory).
- If the file has ".rar" as the extension:
- Make sure that you have WINRAR or 7ZIP installed on your computer.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum, but not to RA2. I decided to try mods, so I downloaded a components pack. I placed them in C:/Program Files (x86)/Robot Arena 2: Design and Destroy/Components. It didn't work. If I am doing anything wrong, please let me know.
-
It depends what file you are putting into your Components folder.
1) Are you extracting it, if the pack is a .zip or .rar?
2) If the file you're putting in Components is labelled 'Components' have you tried moving the contents of that file into the main Components folder?
-
I just extracted the .rar file "components" to the main components file. Still nothing... :vista:
-
As I said, if you're extracting a folder called Components from the rar into the main Components, I'd recommend extracting the folder to your desktop, and then moving everything inside the folder that you extracted from the rar into the main Components file - putting a folder called Components into Components will not work, they need to 'merge'.
-
I've done exactly that, I extracted the files to the desktop, moved the individual files into the main components folder, double checked the folder to see the files in there, launched RA2 and nothing again.
-
What pack are you using? Any other details would also be appreciated.
-
I'm using the components pack D2. I don't know any more info that could be helpful, sorry
-
You also need to put the d2pack.cfz file into your Robot Arena 2 directory - the best way to do all this, as the readme suggests, is to extract the entire file straight to C:/Program Files (x86)/Robot Arena 2: Design and Destroy/. No moving around, just grab the .rar and extract to that location. It may come up with a merge warning or something, but that's all fine.

We really should have a stickied thread for this.

Oh, FINALLY. This has been all one big headache for me, and now it works. Thanks a ton, mate.
