Title: How do you BFE and use AAM?
Post by: Gazea2 on March 30, 2010, 12:23:40 PM
It seems like everyone on gametechmods knows how to BFE and use AAM.

So, how do you? Does anyone have a tutorial?

Thanks.

People don't like to spread it around. It encourages cheating. BFE is easy to pick up though and I know where to find a tutorial for AAM. But no links here, you can find it very easily, it is on the wiki. People will not actually talk about it though.

You say BFE is easy to pick up but when I open the bot file with notepad it just looks like a bunch of symbols.

Can you maybe send me a link in a PM and help me?

You need to open it in notepad ++

Plus the first part of the file is mainly the preview and texture TGA images of the bot - skip those.

I've got notepad ++ and opened up a bot file with it. At the bottom it says things like...

ControlBoard
Components\controlboard.txt
0
0
Is this what I would edit?

Depending on what you want to do.

AAM would be easier for that, IMO.

Lol, not everyone knows how to BFE. I don't. I know how to raise/lower chassis height, and that be about it.

Well im not going to tell you what to change things in the bot file but I will tell you this:
Do NOT under any circumstances paste in the bot file or you will **** up the bot file and im talking from experience.

AAM would be easier for that, IMO.

BFE or AAM would be equally easy, BFE would be quicker if you knew how to do it, AAM would be a lot easier to understand and utilize for people not to familiar

but everyone knowing is an overstatement, its common with long term players (like SSG) or modders, but it tends to be a "trade secret" since it really does open a can of worms as to what can be done

I dont know about others but I learnt most by self teaching but I will credit Nar for getting me started :P
