I figured i would for the heck of it make a bot pack since tons of other people were, it will include stock rebuilds of all the teams exept for the scrappers and Riot, the thing abot the pack that is different is the teams will be wired with controls that have switches for the drive, instead of analog, so they will be continues ramers/ SnS it will have rebuilds of as said above + 10 new teams made by me + guests. What i want for the teams is five made by pros such as at the level of ACAMS and five newbie teams at my level, if you want to enter a team tell me and i'll add more info, right now I'm only looking for LW MW HW

General rule of thumb is there are so many AI packs out now unless you are doing something radically different you shouldn't start one. Also, do you even know how to AI? That is a requirement as well.
For somebody who hates LRA2 so much, you sure are following in his footsteps.

how? do want me to start talking like: me is starting pack of AI? thats how he talks and yes i know somewhat how to AI as I have experience with that from before i even had RA2, and if you read it TECHNICLEY it's NOT an AI pack, it's a bot pack with switch steering so they can be drivin and self drivin with simple changes
-
same as LRA2.

huh? do you pay attention?!?!?
-
No. LRA2 made several attempts to make bot/ai packs that were shot down for the same reasons as this one.
-
fine, I just won't do it, have it you're way all mighty RA2 god
-
I really dont actually see an issue with people making robot packs, etc ?
it will need more work towards what you already have but is it so wrong someone wants to share robots with others ?
-
You know nothing about LRA2.
Kill343 is just preventing you from setting yourself up for failure. We already have a pack where we rebuilt all of the stock AI bots. Unless you have more building talent than me and InfiniteInertia combined, don't do the same thing. Cause we made a lot of the rebuilds. As did people like R0b0sh4rk, among others.
-
well the point was a just-4-fun thing, not really extremely serious and to make a pack of rebuilds of the AI in stock that is at newbie level, kinda the DSL AI for noobs
-
I was gonna do something like a DSL starters AI pack after MMAI was finished...
-

Strange, I've been thinking the same thing for over a week.
I highly doubt you can use switches for drive on an AI bot.

I see what you mean joe... but I think the thing that is problematic is that some of the new players just dive into this stuff waaaaaay too fast and spam up the board with billions of questions because they never took the time to learn the basics first. I like it when this forum is focused. There was a time where 80 percent of posts around here were about each others bot showcases and we all commented and worked hard to improve as builders in preparation for future tourneys. I kinda miss those days.
When new players start talking about hosting tournaments and building AI packs after being around only a month or so... it just disrupts the board with questions that have been asked before. All of the answers are already on the boards, people just need to read the threads.
It's stuff like this that pushed away members like Infinite and other vets. I miss having them around, but I don't blame them for getting fed up with some of this.
-
welll I do have to admit sometimes I do dive into stuff to early, maybe i shoud wait a bit :)
-
Thank you for understanding, Sparkey. That's one thing LRA2 was never capable of.
-
when I do do this, can someone help me with putting these into the teams(over the team limits)
and putting them into a downloadable forum and all that, prefeabley someone who has a pack
-
Uploading it isn't hard, just use an extraction program(WinRAR as an example). Compress all of the pack's contents into a ZIP or RAR file, then upload to GTM's file uploader. You may have to use a different uploader to post it, such as Megaupload.
-
how do I get all the packs contents into a file so I can compress it? thats all I really need to know cause I am NOT good at turning things into files
-
have winrar installed select everything by holding down Ctrl and clicking, then right click > add to rar
-
select the bots in the game itself?
-
whatever files you want up for download
-
one more thing, how do you compress the files?
-
making them into a rar file will compress the size
-
aaaaaaaand i do that how? (I'm not good with comps lolol)
-
have winrar installed select everything by holding down Ctrl and clicking, then right click > add to rar
^ :P
-
one more thing then I'm good, how do i add them to winrar?
so I ctrl click the bots, add to winrar, turn into file then upload
-
so hold down Ctrl and dont let it go
click the files you want for download (just click them once each)
now let go of Ctrl
right click one of the selected files
and then click add to .rar
then go to the file uploader on the front page and upload the .rar you just made
-
wait, do you mean computer file? if so then how do I get the bots themselves into the files?
-
export the robots and you will find them in the robot designs foler
-
ooooooooooooooooohhhh and were is that?
-
export is a button on the robot select section of tea HQ
the robot designs folder is in the RA2 folder were you find the AI, UI, Componants, Tutorials, etc folders
-
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! can you possibly write that all out in order? thanks a bunch
-
export is a button on the robot select section of team HQ
select a robot then click export
the robot designs folder is in the RA2 folder were you find the AI, UI, Componants, Tutorials, etc folders
go into this folder and
so hold down Ctrl and dont let it go

and then click add to .rar

THHHHHHHHHHAAAaANNNNNNKKKKKKK YYYYYYYOOOOOUUUUUUUUU my pack should be ready by April :)
and when i send a bot to a tourny, I export ctrl click, upload and copy/ paste?
-
yes.
-
I opened it up and the robot desighns folder was not in there, and every thing in there was for starcore and stuff like the AI
-
Sparkey, your zeal to promote the game is admirable.
It would help if you took some basic computer skills class(es), so that you could know your way around first. I think this is what K-3 was suggesting, and I would agree. These guys are explaining to you extremely-basic comp tips that you need to know before you start such a project. So please put a hold on your project for a time, and learn some basics first. Then when you're proficient at these primal skills, then come back to this project and you will have significant help from these guys, no prob,.. including myself.
This thread will stay put until that time.
PM me if you have any further questions.
-
you would not beleive what happened, all of my bots, including the ones for this pack, got deleted :( I have rebuild JACKPOT! (powerball) backyard ripper (garden chopper) the boxer (kickboxer) and I'm rebuilding wide load into WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE load
-
Sparkey, I just hope you get the message. Learn from the past (LRA2) that there is some preliminary knowledge that needs to be present before something like this can go into production...
-
is this fail?
-
Stag, that's a bit harsh.
-
yeah, he (along with jerk daddy) don't like me beacuse I'm 11
aparently thats a bad thing....
oh well, you'll die before me
-
Stag's 11 too....
-
SERIOUSLY?
owned
-
Well he claims to be.

We need 50 moderators just to move topics like this to Technical Support and change the name of the topic!
I SWEAR I am going to make a Sparky User Group just as soon as I figure out how to make it limit the number of posts that can be made in a 24 hour period!

Hehe, déjà vu.
