I recently downloaded the DSL TC upgrade for RA2 download version. I followed the instructions and when I loaded RA2 it seemed to work perfectly. So I went into Team HQ, started a new team, tried to go into it and the whole thing shut down. So I tried going into Exhibition match and as soon as I hit the start match button, It shut down again!! Can Anyone help me!!! I have tried multiple times with no success. :evil:

Do you have a legal downloaded version...v1.2? (check top corner in credits)
Did you install to an empty folder and move by hand to your RA2 folder and overwrite all?

I also have a relatively new computer with 99 gig free and Windows XP. I'm trying to use DSL TC 1.0 - should I try the patch for it? Also, The first time I tried downloading DSL TC I downloaded it directly into the RA2 folder and suffered the problems Im having trouble with, but
I then uninstalled RA2 and deleted all the files. I then redownloaded RA2 and used the same installer as the first time to get DSL TC, this time extracting it into a temp folder and runnung that program youre meant to run and then copying it into the RA2 directory overwriting all. However I still ran into the same problem. I dont know for sure if my computers specs are good enough, but I expect they are since its a 6 month old computer. Also, In a weird event I managed to get exhibition match to run once in a AI vs. AI match. However I cant get it to work again even in the same arena, the same robots and the same game type. Please Help!!!

What program is that? If it's DownloadVersionPatch.bat, and you have the CD version of RA2, that could be your problem.

I have the downloaded version of RA2 and yes I do mean DownloadVersionPatch.bat (sorry. I couldn't remember it before). Also how on earth is that meant to remind you of long brown beetles?

Have you patched THE GAME, Robot Arena 2, at any point? If not I think the crash is caused by that.
Once again uninstall all. Install the RA2. Patch THE GAME from 1.00 version to 1.20 version and then extract DSL-TC Mod to separate folder and then copy and paste all the DSL-TC mod's files to RA2 folder and then overwrite everything what it asks. Then extract 1.2 version of the DSL-TC mod to separate folder and copy and paste all the files in there too and then again paste them under RA2's folder and again overwrite everything what it asks you to overwrite.
Now if the game crashes I have no idea.

I cant download the patch due to error 1628: Can't complete installation. Thats all it says. Possibly because I already have version V1.2?

I remember something about needing to have a CD in the drive in order for the patch to work...I think download version users have to put a disc in the drive to install the patch (any old disc).

No, the 1628 error happens when you try patching the 1.2 version.

Ok, so what should I do now? I reckon I should backup my download and then try and re-extract DSL.

Ok. I retried downloading and extracting RA2 and DSL 1.0. Do you need DSL V1.2 for RA2 v1.2? Oh Yeah, It's still not working.

No, using the DSL Patch didn't change anything.

When you run DownloadVersionPatch.bat, does it quit by itself or do you need to close it once it's finished?

Wait a sec... I might have the answer but don't want to risk it. Yet.
When I have been creating a backup I usually just copy all the files over. However I've seen multiple times in the forum that it is preferrable if you use a fresh download. Could this be causing the problem?
I only have one renewal left and don't want to waste it. Its not that I can't offord it, it's just... well... It could be spent on something else.
Please tell me if this is worth a shot. Also, I've seen multiple posts say delete components.cfz. Do I do this after or before transferring all the files from the extract folder to the RA2 folder?

If you have downloaded version of the game go to credits in the game and take a look to right upper corner there should read either 1.00v or 1.20v. If you have downloaded version and 1.00 version, then you can't patch the game because the patch c cd and few files on it and then patches the files on the hd.
If the files on the cd aren't exactly same as on the hd then the patch program won't patch those files which won't match. I noticed this myself when I was creating my own cd.

I said in about my second or third post that I did have a legal RA2 version 1.2.

Fine with me. DSL TC 2 looks awesome. Just tell Goose not to make me wait too long. Please! This is killing me. Ill play round with stock bots and starcore in the interval.

If it is ready I will put it in the database....I can't test much because of my piece of crap nVidia video card, but what I have seen so far was OK. I can't tell if DarkRats replicas are still there because my nVidia fix hides them.....Are they still there?
I just read the post above mine and agree that there needs to be a proper nVidia fix FIRST as about half of us have 6xxxx cards and better.

Yay! A longer wait...
You could always upload the current version without the fix and update it when the fix is finished for those of us who have a decent video card, but that would be unfair on those who dont have a good video card.

I just downloaded DSL TC 2.0, and encountered EXACTLY the same problem that I faced in 1.2. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Strangely enough, AI vs AI battles now work. But it stil crashes if I try and enter Team HQ (Note: I can reach the Team Select Screen; It crashes when I try and view the teams bots) How can I fix this!!!
Since it works on other peoples computers, are there any settings that cause it to shutdown? Everything I try has no effect.

It could be a problem with the UI. Supposedly that is the difference between CD and downloaded versions.
Try copy/pasting the teamhq folder in your UI folder from your stock RA2 into your DSL RA2 and see if it works.
Also, can you use the Rookies bots in battle?

Ok. After a bit of work I have figured out that whenever the stock Botlab and TeamHQ folders in the UI folder are replaced, the game crashes upon entering Team HQ.

If you replace the DSL botlab and TeamHQ folders with the stock ones then it should work, but you won't get the new TeamHQ and Botlab Graphics.

So, apparently the current version of DSL 2.0 doesn't work with the downloaded version. The difference between the two versions must be more subtle than folder and file names.
FOR NOW, I think I'll make a version that doesn't include the new graphics. The game should still be playable for DL users.
Once (and if) I figure out how to make the graphics work on the DL version, I'll upload that.
The no-graphics version should be up soon.

Just crossed my mind that what if those .bmp files are coded on wrong way? Because on .jpg files there are at least 5 different types of them now.
I think if those .bmp files are bit changed along the time and now the game doesn't like at them because they use bit different code inside the picture files.
Just a thought.
