Don't have most power components PICTURE
« on: March 03, 2006, 03:28:15 AM »

Thats all there is, and the default controller or the vertical one both arent there...

I installed exactly as the tutorial in this forum said.  I think i'll re-install with version 1.0 and see if that solves the problem.

I went

Fresh cd install
RA2 Patch
DSL 1.0 (CD) to temp
Copy all to RA2 directory
Create game, create team.
Exit
DSL 1.2 to temp
Copy all except Components
Open components and copy them into the RA2 Components folder, Over-writing previous files.

Please help =[

-Edit ok now i have installed up to the 1.2 DSL patch without the components and it works fine.  Anyone know the fix for this?  I know my way around computers alright ;).  Or can someone with 1.2DSL components zip them and upload them to rapidshare or yousendit? something like that.

I think you didn't read my tutorial enough carefully.

It is for those who's game will crash on creating new team.

If the game patches to 1.20 then you shouldn't need to do anything else than just unpack DSL 1.0, cut all from the DSL 1.0 temp and paste under robot arena 2 folder where you installed the game. Over write everything and then unpack 1.2 DSL packet and then cut everything under DSL 1.2 temp folder and paste to the folder where you installed the game and then over write everything again.

Now eveything should work.

Now i re-installed following the exact steps to take

fresh cd install
RA2 patch
Full DSL temp
Copy into  RA2
DSL patch temp
Copied into RA2

That's all the power components there are supposed to be.  The stock ones were made hidden because they didn't look as fancy as the new stuff.  Although it doesn't look like it, there's actually more parts in DSL than in stock, you just have to click the style tabs to get more options.

Those all black batteries what are in all AI robots are "cheat" batteries and that's why they are hidden.

I think they give superior amount of amps but volts are low so they won't last long but they give full power all the time to every component.

But if you want to have them you either should wait until DSL 2.0 is released or then just go under components folder and open every text file and then replace hidden = 1 to hidden = 0.

But if I were you I would pass that because that is some sort "cheating" because you are using other components than what you have given to use and in that way you are kind of using selfmade components and they can be what ever they like to. For example battery pack could weight 0.1kgs and it would give 100 volts and 1000amps and its size would be as small as ant. So that's why I recommend you to not use them.

Now I have no idea. Of course you could once again uninstall all and install the game and the patch for the game and then try to run it and create a new team with out DSL-TC mod. If it crashes on this point you probably have a scratch on your cd and the installer won't copy all the necessary files which it should copy.

But if that won't crash on that point then quit the game select the RA2 folder and right click on it and go to properties and then uncheck read-only tick and use it to all subfolders and files and so on.

Then do as you did last time and copy all DSL files from their own folders and paste them under RA2 folder and overwrite everything what it asks to.

Now try to create a new team if the game crashes now you probably have corrupted version of the DSL-TC 1.0 and 1.2 patch or your downloads aren't finished up.
