Hi there, I discovered this game the other week and have been getting majorly into it. So imagine how pleased I was when I found this site.
Here's the problem. I've tried installing v1.3 and the DSL shizzle. I followed the instructions really carefully but I can't seem to get online, whenever I click the "multiplayer" button the game just crashes to windows and asks me to file an error report.
Honestly I did download the CD-iso version of the game because I couldn't download it officially as I'm in the UK and the sites I tried said my region wasn't covered.
No need to ask specs guys, this machine is definately capabable.
Many thanks in advance to kind responces.
-
You might try the version in my signature. (credit to Sage as always).
(I did downloaded the CD-iso version like you and it never done that).
-
Well if you installed the 1.3 patch first and then installed DSL like the instructions say .....(IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO INSTALL TO DESKTOP AND MOVE BY HAND) then you may try what Naryar said. Be sure to make and keep a stock working game and also try one of the Starcore AI packs.
-
Thanks for the responces, but I don't think its my version of the game thats the problem. I just discovered this error message when trying to host a robot arena game on gamespy arcade:
"Gamespy arcade has detected that your computers internal IP address is different than it's external I.P address. This may be caused firewalls, a NAT proxy or other unusual network configurations...."
Any ideas how to get that fixed? I tried turning off the windows firewall and my antivirus firewalls. Didn't work either.
-
Don't use gamespy....it is laggy. Use the in game Multiplayer....BUT NOBODY ever plays anymore.
Some of the guy's play every once in a while and meet on hamachi server. (there is a link somewhere on these forums)
Gamespy arcade has detected that your computers internal IP address is different than it's external I.P address means that you have a router with one IP address.....usually 192.168.1.1 and then your ISP gives you your real IP address. If you would like to host games you may have to bridge your modem/router and may even have to get a static IP address. (one of the downfalls of RA2)
-
Yeah... but I can't!
Everytime I click "multiplayer" in game I get a microsoft error with a data report, after the game crashes to windows.
How can I fix that?
-
Re-install. It is the only way.
-
make sure you back up your bots though.

Re-install. It is the only way.
Tried it, four times.
Happens on a clean 1.0 install, a 1.2 and a 1.3 game. All attempted on different installations.
Common guys, I'm hooked on this game, there must be something else?
-
try the ones in infs summer magic thread

there must be something else?
My signature.
-
My signature.
Negative on that one too.
-
Well you're probably screwed then.
But if multi doesn't works (it's laggy as heck anyways) you might find your pleasure in AI tournaments then :D
-
and ai tournaments can make you build bots better! I also strongly recommend you to join hydro's cluster bot challenge mine is a pop up wedge cluster bot
-
Then...
Don't click the multiplayer button?!?!?!
-
Well if the multiplayer is ****ed anyway I'll stick to the normal game, would have been nice to challange some of you guys to a torney. My bots are intense.
Oh, whilst I'm here. Other than the DSL, is there any other mods that you guys would say are a must have?
I was wondering if one was out that allows construction of claws to pincer your opponent and keep them held, I can't seem to do that on my game.
-
Start a showcase and show us your "intense" bots. I bet that they aren't intense, but feel free to prove me wrong.
And on the second question: No
-
We need new motivated builders !
-
first q: starcore
second q: you can but you need 3dsmax 4 or 5
