Title: DSL export error
Post by: Alterer of Reality on April 01, 2010, 06:59:12 PM
This is a serious problem due to the upcoming tournament. I have built my bot and exported the design to what the game claims is the "Robot Designs folder in my game directory". I have looked there and it did not export. If you have any idea what may be causing this problem please tell me. I spent a lot of time on my bot [read: 30 minutes or so] and I really want to enter it in BBEANS6.
Thanks in advance.

Are you running Windows 7?

If so, you need to change the compatibility mode for the folder in order to access the files.

stop telling him to reinstall... that is a very potentional way to loose everything

you need to recover before thinking about reinstalling

Get it from the teams folder. Work out which team your bot is in (I.E. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, whatever), and open that folder. Then pick the bot that is in the correct position, copy it in your robot designs folder, and see if you can impor it. If it imports, you're good to go.

30 mins is not a lot of time.

Thank you for pointing that out Naryar, I hadn't noticed [/sarcasm]

The file doesn't show up when I search the computer for it, it isn't in the Teams folder, and Sage's DSL refuses to install.

What do you mean by refuses to install?

It downloads, but when I try to unzip the contents to a folder to install it, WinRAR comes up with all kinds of stupid errors.

Did you try sparkey's suggestion?:
are you going to C:\programfiles\robotarena2\robot designs? if so, try c:\programfiles(86)\robotarena2\robot designs.

1)I'm not sure I understand exactly what that means
2)I just got Sage's DSL to work. And it still won't export.

Try the teams foldwer in Sage's version.

Tried that. It still only shows "The Rookies"

Can you export custom skins?

No.

EDIT: It doesn't matter. My mom let me install RA2 on her computer and the bot exported there. Problem solved. Thanks for your help.

There's a folder called compatibility files in the toolbar, click that tab when in the Robot Designs folder.
