Did you let it overwrite the stuff in the AI folder?

You must have installed something wrong.

Don't worry about RFS AI for now.  Reinstall the game and just try to get a clean RA2 working.

Once you have a working RA2, then you can try to install AI packs.  Take it one step at a time and make sure you put all the folders in their proper place (new "AI" folder overwrites old "AI" folder, new "UI" folder overwrites old "UI" folder, etc.  If you copy/paste an AI pack into your RA2 folder and it doesn't ask you to overwrite files, you're doing it wrong.)

I might add to CB's advice, that once you get the 'basic' game working, then make a Back Up of what you have BEFORE doing the next mod, so that if it doesn't work you don't lose any ground.
Do this at every successful step till you get to your destination...
Even then keep a BU on the side.
Input is appreciated. :)

BU's or copying are a good idea, just take a look at my Infogames Folder

1 Backup contains the original RAR folders including the clean stock and DSL DL.
1 Tools contains all my compilers and other modding stuff.
