Title: Component Problem
Post by: JoeCB1991 on August 18, 2008, 09:14:53 PM
I just had to reinstall the Mod because it started locking up after one of the frequent crashes that RA2 does so much. Anyway, now it is like the Cheatbot2 code is always on, and if I click on some of the items they crash. How can I fix this?

Also, I did try to reinstall it again, and that didn't work either.

How many mods did you install and what were they? I don't know of any single mod that can cause that. (except maybe DSL, and do you have Windoze vista?)

Well, the first time i installed DSL 1.0 it did that on my old Win 98. After I got an XP I reinstalled this game and put DSL 2.0 in and it worked fine, then the game started slowing down so I took it out and reinstalled the game again [completely fresh], the only Mod I have is DSL now, along with the DSL AI bots.

Also, if I click on the cheatbot2 icons the game crashes, although when I used Cheatbot2 in the version I had before it screwed up, Everything worked fine.

If the icon is blank, then do not click it, I have that kind of parts too. No idea where they came from, so I just leave them alone because they crash the game.

I know. It is like Cheatbot2 is always on for me now, except the parts won't ******* work.

If you installed it correctly (by installing to an empty folder on your desktop and moving my hand to your RA2 folder) then delete the Components.cfz in your main folder and that should fix your problem.

It fixed part of it, but when I installed the game I used WinRAR to copy the folder to the game folder, then I copied all of what was in it into the folder so it would overwrite everything.

You didn't install it correctly........YOU MUST EXTRACT THE RAR FILE TO AND EMPTY FOLDER AND MOVE BY HAND TO YOUR GAME FOLDER!!!!

I did it the way you told me too, and some of the parts that make the game crash are gone, but the parts that are supposed to be hidden are not hidden.

Maybe they are not supposed to be hidden.

It wasn't like that before. All of the AI parts were hidden, and the standard ones were all that I had available. Then when I had to reinstall the game they were not hidden.

I posted a topic about this.  Perhaps I should have stickied it (that's done now.)
