my friend gave me a burnt copy of the game and i cannot tell wether its a cd version or dn and put on a cd,

i have a no cd crack in it but i dunno if it something off the internet or what but anyways...

i cannot instiall the 1.2 patch i get the 1628 error and i know i got the 1.0 "i checked the creds"

both updates i have dont work

i can get teh dsl installed and i can get to the menu andi can quit out but thats about it, if i try to go to the exabition or my hq it crashes my whole computer sending it to 320x240 and 8bit graphics

any help would be very much appreciated

Did you have the disc installed when you tryed to do v1.2 update ?
Also I noticed you need Alcohol 120% to burn it
Nero may work tho, but EZCD creator doesn't.

all i had to do was drag and drop the files to a folder and then extract them after it was allready on my comp

i dunno but is it possible that it may be a pirated version??? could tha be a reason that the updates dont work?

First thing you need to do is find out if it's the downloaded version.
here is a fast way to check , go into your UI/botlab directory and check the size of this file "appearance.gib" if it's 21k you have the cd version.
Intall v1.2 of robot arena . If that still does not work you out of luck. if it does then after you install 1.2 install DSL , then V1.2 of DSL.

I burned it before by just dragging everything onto the CD in Windows, only problem was some weird ass texture problems (arena textures would flash like it was a techno club for example). Still, it worked, so it was cool.

Also, if it's the download version, don't we have a download version patch? I could have swore... :?
