Title: Antiballasts again
Post by: smashysmashy on August 20, 2011, 04:27:47 PM
I want to make a SHW. Don't know where to find anti-ballasts so I can do this. Any ideas?

Thanks

Just use this to get rid of the weight limit altogether: https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,5794.0.html (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,5794.0.html)

These are my weightmakers, smashysmashy. They attach where ever you click in the bot lab (like smartzones) so they can be placed out of the way of construction.

They subtract the exact amount of weight required to make a SHW or UHW (-400 and -4200) then just build to the normal 800kg limit and when you remove it, your robot will be 1200kg (removeing is required otherwise the robot wont work..)

Can you make a -1700 to create UHW Multibots?

Just add 2500kg of Ballast if you really need to. Or add 5 SHW ballasts, and only build up to 500kg.

copy and paste one of the text files fromhttps://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/9512WeightMaker.rar (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/9512WeightMaker.rar), and edit the weight in is, it should be mass= or something.

Reusing my old thread (again)

I'm confused by RA2. In my mind I think IRL a Saw would be better as so to cut through the other bots. Does RA2 not work this way? As all of the Sawbot weapons I've seen so far are with weapon motors.

A little help?

It's not possible in RA2... Shame...

So, how does it work? Repetition = Damage?

RA2 saws do frequency damage, they continue to do damage whilst in contact with the enemy.

So basically the cheatbot2 Rage Motor would be a great cheat weapon for a sawbot?

(High speed with little torque)

Saws don't even need to move to do damage.

RA2 is silly, and treats each object as it's 1 big blob - you can't cut into one or separate them, if you know what I mean. Unfortunate really, because axes might've become a good weapon again, as with saws.

EDIT: XD didn't see this page of replies, but what I said still stands I guess.

Instead of being completely ineffective and unusable =P

Not necessarily true, I think people can and have some up with some great uses for saws, like frequency rammers (as they keep dealing damage as long as they're in contact, they make good, if a little heavy, ramming weapons) and I think axes/hammers need to make a comeback personally ;)

I'll make one for BB5 :gawe:

Saws aren't even good IRL, because the opponent generally doesn't sit still long enough to cut them.  That Darn Dustpan is the only exception I can think of (and even then, the saw was usually more of a spark-thrower than an effective weapon).

Saws were also effective in the early days of antweights (VDD), but only because of their grabbing and throwing power, not for cutting.

In RA2 however, anything can be good if you give it good enough stats.

Dead Metal was also an effective saw-based design, but he was more of a house robot.

Hi guys, using my old thread again.

Flamethrowers. Where do I find the non-cheaty one? The only flamethrower I can find is the 1kg BOB one and that wouldn't be legal in any tournaments.

Thanks

Second weapon in the weapon list in standard DSL 2.1. And it looks exactly like Bob's flamethrower but 19kg heavier for balance issues. It's REALLY easy to find if you installed your DSL right.

I hope you know you need air for it as well, and it doesn't fire if your bot has no throttle (forward/backward imput).

Just another newfag question, I'm afraid.

I have the antiballasts needed to make SHW and UHW bots (JB's), but I have no idea where to put them in the DSL folder for it to work 0.o Because I have the weight limit remover so I can put components in, but it completely fails when trying to select armour.

Thanks

Should put them in the Components folder. There's a shwmaker folder, uhwmaker folder, and .txt files for both of them.
