Last time I got a virus I used either AdAware or Trend Micro... can't remember which but they both have free versions.

virtumonde is VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, hard to remove. I got it not long ago and I am pretty good at removing stuff like that and even go into the registery and pluck it out by the roots.......but that is the hardest one I have ever done.......I gave up and completely reformatted my hard drive. There are a couple of removal tools out there, but it installs a root kit and just comes right back.

Ah... I've heared about Virtumonde. I think it makes your antispyware programs to crash and even prevents you from going on a antispyware website.

Never caught that, I think.

Sorry, Pys. I have no easy solution for that either.
Input is appreciated. :)
-Arrogance is a quantity devoid of quality...
-As a client once told me "This is my story, and it's sticking to me!"
-Relationships these days are like the 'Arrival' section of the airport: a lot of baggage is being revealed in one place, and not a lot of it is being correlated to its real owners...

I have had similiar thing. Here is how I got rid of it appearing in the bacgound:

1. Move the mouse to the very edge of the sceen and srhink the virus backgound so that you can see your own desktop.
2. Right click on desktop and go to Preferences
3. Go to Desktop tab and click Customize desktop
4. Go to the Web tab of the new window and you should see Current homepage un checked and the virus background checked and its path on your computer.
6. Find the place where the virus backgroud is located in and Delete it from the list.
7. Press Ok and then Use and the background is back to normal.
8. Delete the folder the virus background is in.

Also I scanned the computer with all my antivirus & spyware progams and got rid of everything they found and the virus background did not come back.

If this does not work, I would go with ACAMS's solution.

Why is it horrible? I have 8.0 now and its much better than 7.5 and no viruses so far got past it.
