Title: (not-so) generic crash on startup problem (fixed)
Post by: El Chickenado on March 28, 2014, 08:16:04 PM
now i know that i am one of the many to have this problem... but this problem continues through the techniques i find. If you have any advice on how to fix it post below (i know there are many but many have already failed on my computer)

Running windows 7 (64 bit)
Downloaded off this website
RA2 version1.4
been working for 2 weeks to get it fixed  :vista:

Been looking to get this game for months but didn't find link for download until recently
When i run the game it appears with a loading cursor and then says
"Robot Arena 2 has stopped working windows will close the program and notify you of a solution"
wants to start a showcase and eventually join some tournaments (most likely in DSL but get through working stock to work before messing with it)

You might have better luck downloading the full version of DSL, since it's just unzip and play.  I am running window 7 and that's all I had to do to get it to work.

You can try the generic compatibility fix.

1.  Right click Robot Arena 2.exe, click property
2.  Click compatibility
3.  Check run program in compatibility mode (Window XP SP2)
4.  Check run this program as an administrator.

If that doesn't work, it might be a display setting, try disabling full screen manually by
1.  Open ra2.cfg with a text editor (notepad ++)
2.  Change fullscreen = 0

Or it might be a region and language setting (if you are using some foreign language)
1.  Open region and language in control panel
2.  Change System Locale
3.  Change to English (United States)

Let me know if any of these works.

compatibility and run as adminastrator were changed but it did not help the problem
fullscreen was already set to 0
and i made sure i was using English United states
none of these fixed the problem
although i thank you for the advice
also what dsl download did you use?
