Is the thickness aesthetic or does it give better armour?

I think this is the farthest anyone's gotten on a new robot game Maybe the armor can overlap the frame (more like how an ra2 chassis looks) to close the holes.Also do you still need the stock ra2 models? I found a fairly easy way to convert them to .obj with notepad++
